do you place transparent tape under the rpi to prevent shorting on the manhattan pcb pads or is the airgap from the doublesided tape enough?

how did you mount the dil-8 socket sturdy enough not to get ripped out when changing the component but without the leads shorting out on the gnd-plane when putting in another one and applying some pressure?
