Jan 22nd - Sir George Head left for Mount Kilimanjaro, where he planned to climb both peaks, while looking for last year's expedition.

Y'all gotta cool it with the "the average movie/TV show from the 1980's has better cinematography than the average movie/TV show from today" jibber jabber. That ain't true at all.

Whenever I've struggled with my own screenwriting, I've found one of these is to blame.

1. I've lost track of the story and/or emotion.
2. I've lost confidence.
3. I'm over-complicating what should be simple.

This is why I focus on teaching processes that resist all three.

THE OLD WAY: A screenplay is a blueprint for a production.

THE NEW WAY: The screenplay promises what the movie can be.

My goal for a spec script is to evoke the emotional experience of seeing the film on screen. That's how I get the reader excited about the possibilities.

Gene Hackman dying seems a good time to tell you that Sam Raimi made a western called The Quick and the Dead, absolutely every cool actor is in it, Hackman destroys in every scene as the Big Bad, and for weird reasons 1995 America decided it was bad and erased it from memory
