one of us! One of us!
The full thing is available to listen on Internet Archive. Very contemporary for the 60's, and rather ironic in the modern day knowing the Northern Pacific only had 6 more years of existence beyond this album's release!
Fun fact: on their 100th anniversary in 1964, the Northern Pacific Railway celebrated by commissioning a 40 minute long opera about their many achievements, which they called "A Thousand Miles of Mountains". Here's a brief selection from it! It's a fun listen.

Long story short I should have an actual model railroad by the summer but itβs gonna be kinda wacky. Iβll post pictures when I actually start building it
Been hung up on a yard since I want one but also want a roundhouse of some caliber. I think itβs doable with the track plan I have in mind but it might be a little tight. The yards not gonna be big (only 3 tracks prolly) but it should be enough to be fun. Also trying to save space for MOW equipment

Iβm modeling the Northern Pacific in Washington almost exclusively because I can run lots (and I mean LOTS) of U25C/U28Cβs. I donβt really run passenger but I do want the option to run them if necessary so Iβm trying to avoid 18β radius curves
Getting to the end of the planning stage of my HO scale layout and getting dangerously close to the βmaking itβ part, which is kind of scary. Hardest part right now is trying to finish a track plan that I like and will support the running I want to do

The Alta California Railway meets Nacionales De Mexico at Guadalajara, commissioned by @interurbanera.bsky.social . (Not gonna lie, this has to be one of the best things I've ever done)
If any of you model railroad guys want a portrait of your finest (or grubbiest) motive power, drop us a line!
After 9 yeareals, it's finally my turn to post the "a thousand cereals" clip, seeing as how I'm the idiot who made it.
shameful admission my gf got me into overwatch again....

made a new pinned post that includes my linktree because it was starting to get kind of cluttered otherwise. I also have an artstation now! Go check it out, it's not complete but it does have some cool stuff I've made on it

Hi! My name is Doggard. I'm a light rail train operator by day and a hard surface 3D artist by night. I research railroad equipment and technical data, too! Check out my portfolio and my blog to see the stuff I make.

anyways. rant over, ai bad, you know how it is. have a texture test i did a week ago as a treat
"but what if I don't have any music experience??" then learn? or get someone else to help you? i revel in the beauty of learning and doing something new. yeah i'm gonna make something that sucks at first. you have to make a few crayon houses before you can paint starry night
i would rather listen to a low quality piano midi or someone's first attempt at music than a computer hallucination. imperfection and edge is what creates art. it's ok to not be perfect but it isn't ok to steal
It gets worse when you see entire channels and accounts on music sharing sites like spotify and youtube that post nothing but AI generated music tagged as "oldies for easy listening to" with an AI generated picture of some mid century art masquerading as real music
I was looking at stock library music a few weeks ago (mostly out of curiosity) and I was appalled by how much music available to aspiring game devs and upstart youtubers is AI generated. To find anything at all that wasn't slop took some serious work that SHOULD be unnecessary.
I really strongly dislike all forms of AI, but the one that's drawing the most ire right now (to me) is AI music. Trying to find any kind of music from a sound library or from any royalty free place now is borderline impossible because literally everything made after ~2024 is AI generated (π§΅)
I used to live near a Trader Joeβs with a massive mural of a pair of SD70Mβs in UP paint labeled βTrader Joes Expressβ! I need to start collecting TJβs train art pictures since itβs apparently a common thing

was a nice day today
A Green Line trolley stands by at signal E26LB while an oncoming Orange Line train moves across the interlocking to the opposite platform.
Interlocking E26 is a fun place to photograph the trolley. A lot happens here (itβs where the Green and Orange lines end) and so stuff moves through here a lot
