Weiter so, das ist Klasse. Persönlich würde ich mir vielleicht ein bisschen mehr über Teilchenphysik wünschen, vor allem auch, was wir aus unseren Methoden heraus an Entwicklungen in die Gesellschaft einbringen.
It's done. Proud to be part of this team for so many years and having worked with a large number of talented people. Now we are on to new features, there's a lot of work to be done. arxiv.org/abs/2512.16645
Large Hadron Collider status screen showing beam intensity and energy graphs plus instantaneous luminosity graphs. Status is ion physics, stable beams. Comment section says “stable beams, all IPs on target”. There is a Christmas tree made from color-blocked text near the comments in this section.
Proton Synchrotron status screen showing magnet cycle and beam intensity graphs, plus a list of users, particle type, intensities, and destinations. The comments section has color-blocked text art in the shape of a Christmas tree.
Proton Synchrotron Booster status screen showing the users of each magnet cycle, beam intensity, and which of the accelerator’s four beam pipes contain beam at injection and acceleration. The comment section is text art of a house and a tree on a snowy day.
Looks like the accelerator ops @cern.bsky.social are getting festive!
So?
Very happy to be part of one of the successful doc.funds projects, which will enable us to study novel concepts and methods for some of the most intriguing phenomena in the Universe.
Cool. Gemini seems to run in the future and can predict decisive outcomes of important meetings (today is the 28th of November 2025 -- unless me and my laptop are subject to a time translation).
Austria has also put in an amendment to the primary document, and we have also been waiting for additional information and discussions to identify a sensible plan B if FCC is not feasible -- at the provision that we need to have a broad approach and other endeavours should not be deprioritized.

Night train back to Austria is horribly delayed, but warm and cosy ... best place to prepare lectures, work on proposals, ... let's see when we depart Nürnberg (train shunters should have arrived just now to merge it with the one from Amsterdam)
It is always thrilling to come back to a place where one has spent quite some years of a life, even just for a day. Moin, Hamburg, and hello DESY.
Official things on a Friday afternoon ... today the inauguration of the @mbi-oeaw.bsky.social
Indeed an important summary of the inputs to the strategy. The national inputs can still be updated, and we will hold further discussions and spark initiatives in Austria on the 3rd of November.
Congratulations 🎊
Some domain specific training data for the autocorrect would be appreciated ;-)
Resummation, of course
On the way to visit Thomas Becher and his group ay Bern, to discuss about evolution and resumption in colour space and how the QCD and SCET approaches might relate.
Thanks a lot everyone for contributing to the programme, this has been a great success @agbuckley.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy @jonbutterworth.bsky.social and many others
MIAPbP was a great success, but quite exhausting after four weeks. To relax I'm now on to one of my favorite little getaways with some colleagues from Uni Wien ... guess how we travel back after visiting Bratislava 😉
😑
Funny that this very meeting table and the whole scenery haven't changed ... much like Markus didn't😉
The staff are totally stressed up as once again either fridges, the dishwasher or what not don't work, and the whole service is completely understaffed facing a full train so they can't serve on demand nor for those in the dining car (nor the first class).
I'm traveling a lot by train these days. And dining cars are really nice especially in the evenings and mornings. Love to work, think, and yes: have dinner there. The most beautiful ones of OeBB have essentially been phased out for modern "Bistros", good on average, but mostly dysfunctional.
Bikes and sunshine at Munich Institute for Astro- Particle- and Bio Physics
Breaking: It has stopped raining in Munich.
First week of our workshop on event generators at colliders and beyond colliders at MIAPbP is well underway. Today we have Rainer Fries talking about hadronization in heavy ion collisions with Jetscape.
Enjoy! It's really nice around this time of year, especially compared to other (overheated) cities in Europe at this time of year. I know, I've been living in Hamburg for seven years ... and on the contrary at Vienna for the last eight ;-)
As fresh, traditional, and good as it can possibly get ... thanks bellsfishshop.co.uk for still being an undebatable reference when it comes to Fish & Chips. Let alone all science and what not here at Durham, this was worth the trip alone 😉
And for a lot of work on Herwig, of course.
Coming back for a visit after way too long ... looking forward to a good week of discussions on leveraging Quantum Computing paradigms (possibly)
Venice event brings future of #ParticlePhysics into focus
Discussions this week at the Open Symposium of the European Strategy for Particle Physics demonstrate strong progress towards ensuring that CERN remains a world leader in collider physics and technology.
