I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

This is beyond outrageous. Need post-lockup price discovery at an absolute minimum. They know it’s the only thing keeping Tesla from being 90% lower right now. Disgusting.

Tired of the Prompt Thieves in the Al art community.
Seriously, the moment a great prompt is public, someone immediately copies it, shares it, and pretends it's their own genius work.
It's not about gatekeeping, it's about
giving credit where it's due. Stop stealing and start creating! #PromptStealer 1/2

Never do this:
Passing off someone else's work as your own.
This Grok Imagine effect with the day-to-night transition was created by me — and I'm pretty sure that person knows it.
To make things worse, their copy has more impressions than my original post.
Not cool

I don't know what you think, but this seems a bit unfel to me.
My original post with the Saori Kido Athena prompt has 4,000 impressions, while @dvorahfr's post with an image created with my prompt has 30,000.
As for not quoting me as the author, I'm not saying anything, because she has apologised.
I would like to understand that it was an unintentional mistake, although I think I'm well enough known around here to use a prompt of mine without knowing it's mine.
If I wasn't so well known, would there have been a rectification? I am afraid that many small accounts are stolen on a daily basis and nothing happens.
But for a copy to be more widely distributed than the original is a very bad symptom.
Without focusing on anyone, I think that some big accounts hardly create original content and just post other people's content, often without quoting the author, and that's very uncool.
Respect and honesty above all else. Let's play fair.

AI sloppers (is that a term?) crying that their prompts are being stolen is more beautiful than anything AI could produce

I hate that we have to explain this every year: The TIME "Person of the Year" award is specifically for the BEST person of the year, it means the editors of TIME think this person is objectively better than all other people, that it is their favorite person who they 100% support

the genAI bubble relies on you conflating the genuinely tremendous potential of using machine learning for e.g. image recognition in radiotherapy, protein folding, simulations in power systems etc with the child abuse image generators and schizophrenic delusions generators

THE TERMINATOR was released 41 years ago today. Acclaimed as one of the great science fiction/action films of the 1980s, and the film that launched the career of writer-director James Cameron, the story of how it was made absolutely will not stop. Ever. Until it is read…

My guy liked THE EXPANSE so much he personally made sure it didn’t get cancelled. And apparently the entire point of the series went further over his head than a Blue Origin launch.

It's interesting how when google glass first came out, Google at least tried to *pretend* its main use case wasn't for perverts and gestapo. They were like, look doctors can use this, architects! Augmented reality plumbers!

Zuckerberg can't even be fucked to pretend it has any non-evil uses.

So now Mark’s creeper specs do what they are intended to do and the company can claim users are circumventing the “guardrails” and violating the TOS. Everyone gets what they want, except for the rest of us, who get screwed.

as a girl with a PhD in natural language processing and machine learning it's actually offensive to me when you say "we don't know how LLMs work so they might be conscious"

I didn't spend 10 years in mines of academia to be told ignorance is morally equal knowledge.

We know exactly how LLMs work.
