Figurines of Brady Bunch and Partridge Family fighting each other
I have created a diorama of the Partridge family attacking the Brady Bunch family. My life is very boring.
Woodpecker at a suet feeder. It's very dubious of this whole arrangement.
Here, have a woodpecker.
But I've noticed that when a bird lands, my attention instinctively goes to the computer screen showing the same damn bird -- grainier and not as clearly. By the time I force my attention to the live bird it's usually gone.
It's too goddamn early in the morning for such a heavy-handed metaphor.
Black-capped chickadee at a green mesh suet feeder in foreground, taken through window blinds; snow-covered woods and stream in background.
I keep a suet feeder in my office window during the winter. I can see it pretty clearly from my desk, but I thought it would be fun to try setting up a webcam to try to get some snapshots of the birds that land. (Mostly chickadees, but some woodpeckers and bluebirds)
Yesterday I filmed several baby birds walking across a street directly at my camera and asked Bluesky to suggest music
Several dozen folks did
Some even dubbed music over the original clip.
I haven't been able to get this out of my head.
So I give you
A Bluesky exclusive:

All the best oracle are saying, Donald, if you invade PERSIA, a great empire will fall! We love our ORACLES, especially as regards to Delphi and Future! thank you for your attention to this matter!
If we're paying millions of dollars a day to keep the Strait open, then it's not really $90/barrel oil, though, is it? At least not for us - we'd effectively be subsidizing the rest of the world.
Motherfuckers changed my clock again.
I was just telling some coworkers about that yesterday and they didn’t believe me!
I promise you are not ready for this
(Beartato and Reginald, in a museum, gaze upon the Mona Lisa) BEARTATO: There it is. The Mona Lisa. The most famous painting in history. REGINALD: Wow! What's it do? BEARTATO: It... what? REGINALD: Why's it famous? What's it do? (Beartato thinks.) BEARTATO: I don't know. REGINALD (to nearly museum employee): Excuse me! Sir? What's it do? EMPLOYEE: You're the first person to ask! Watch this! (The employee yanks a pull-string. Mona Lisa's eyes spin around and her mouth opens like a puppet) MONA LISA: Honk honk! Honk honk! (Everyone is delighted. This is true art.)
True Art
Truly we have a wealth of dunces to choose from.
Oh I am firmly in the "Richard III was innocent" camp.
Shaped by a different biology or culture, other intelligent civilisations – if they’re out there – might understand the universe in a completely different way than we do. Physicist Daniel Whiteson explores what that could tell us about physics and ourselves
Happy birthday!
Imagine being canned before RFK Jr. That's just embarrassing.
I’m wondering whether she arrives home to divorce papers. And I don’t think she’ll ever have a restaurant meal without noticeable amounts of added saliva ever again.
Oh, I hope they make her book her own ticket home.
The plays comprising the War of the Roses are my favorites. Richard just chews the scenery and it’s amazing.
This chart also applies to writing fiction, FYI.
I keep thinking about that joke about how if buildings were built like software, the first woodpecker to come along would destroy civilization.
Vance understands perfectly well that the one unpardonable vice in Trumpworld (other than crossing or showing up Trump himself) is to ever apologize or admit to have made a mistake. Dolan could accuse him of a lot of things, but of apologizing? That can’t stand.
I think we might have had permission to use the real track, but these were really experimental (ours used a golf cart motor as a generator! Another one had an ultracapacitor explode!), and we didn't want to ever be too far from a fire extinguisher...
I once drove a hybrid race car that I helped build, in the parking lot of a NASCAR track.
How was this not already the plan? How was this not already in place? Did they just not think that Iran would have any of the drones they’ve been mass-producing??
FT comments section this morning - saying what everyone else is thinking, right?
The PBS version of Twelfth Night with Lupita Nyong'o, Sandra Oh, and Peter Dinklage was phenomenal. I don't know what determines when the full length version is online, but it's well worth the watch. www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/t...
If you asked me twenty years ago which party would be fielding a bunch of candidates who were military and clergy, I wouldn’t have guessed the Democrats even if you’d given me three guesses.
