This is Cass, My Beloved, with whom I am well pleased! Listen to them!

12/ Basically, there’s only one way to fight Texas Chainsaw Cathy (Deloitte) and (Crooked) Adam Slenderman! So why be a final girl when you can stick with the union?

11/ Nneka, Tash, Elizabeth Williams, et. al. get this. They stuck together. They didn’t even have to sacrifice their undisciplined colleagues to do it!
The others are a horror movie cliche. The ax murderers show up + they go LET’S SPLIT UP! Later they mistake their buddy for the actual threat.
10/ Labor unions, like any endeavor involving democratic aspirations that we inevitably disappoint bc ppl are imperfect, are often a hot mess.
Those are still your comrades who you need. You still have an actual enemy (see: Cathy Deloitte, Crooked Adam, et. al.). Their eyes are still on the ball.
9/ So much emotional and spiritual work in struggles for justice and liberation is about staying clear on (a) who our actual enemies and (b) who our enemies are *not.*
We can critique comrades + call ppl to a higher standard w/o throwing the person or the cause under the bus.
8/ Meanwhile, other E-Board + #WNBA players w/ a deeper praxis of solidarity keep the main thing the main thing: the focus is the players, who — once again — 👏 ARE 👏 THE 👏 UNION.
They value + respect WNBPA staff, while remaining accountable for what is ultimately the players’ fight.
7/ The statement from two (white) franchise players paint a the WNBPA Executive Director, a Black woman with a JD whose role is literally to get them paid and protected, as the problem in CBA negotiations.
Like WTAF. Cathy Deloitte is right there? But now Terri Jackson is the problem? Be serious.
6/ The way these parties discuss the WNBPA staff as people who are in service to them — as Terri Jackson said,
as people who “serve at the pleasure of the players” — also tells us something.
It is informative bc you can learn a lot about somebody based on how they treat service workers.
5/ Also notice how, at least in Annie’s article, the quotes from the rest of the union exec board show unity. They are probably pissed, but they still don’t disown Plum/Stewart. They talk about their union as a collective with multiple perspectives. They are disciplined!
4/ Thus it is 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩when Plum, Stewart, & Co. talk about the union as someone other than them — especially when they are elected leadership! At best it shows they misunderstand what a union is. At worst it repeats a boss talking point. Either way it’s kind of a psyop.
3/ This is divide + conquer propaganda!! It’s a genre of propaganda that insinuates itself into everyday speech, including the speech of ppl who support or are members of the union.
2/ Bosses (and scabs, whether workers or the establishment media) will do the opposite. They’ll represent the union as a meddling, obstructionist third party that intrudes on the collaboration + communication of the worker-manager relationship.
Also, some labor thoughts (The Point God is a union lesbian!)
1/ The union = the members. Strong unions + strong union members know this and reflect it in their speech. They default to first person plural to talk about their collective: “we,” “us,” “our.”
May The Point God of endurance and encouragement grant you a spirit of unity with one another, so that together in one voice you may get your check and bring Cathy Deloitte to her knees.
-A prayer for the WNBPA, catalogued in Romans 15:5.

Same. Also her pinned post is “YOU ARE SAFE WITH ME” and lists a bunch of identities including LGBTQ…?

I brought you into a land of plenty, to enjoy its gifts and goodness, but you ruined my land; you disgraced my heritage.
-God herself speaking to Breanna Stewart, quoted in Jeremiah 2:7
#Unrivaled #WNBA
The dead don’t live;
Ghost Gangs don’t rise.
Indeed, you* have punished and
destroyed them.
-What actually happened in the #Unrivaled championship, articulated Isaiah 26:14
*You = the referees and the anti-union terf who employs them
Your dead will live, their Ghost Gangs will rise, and those who dwell in the dust will shout for joy.
-What we hope will happen in #Unrivaled, expressed in Isaiah 26:24
Boston is injured and Iriafen made two turnovers in a row a little but ago when she came in
This is Seerat Sohi, the Beloved; with her I am well pleased; listen to her awesome podcast, whose latest episode is super smart on the stakes of the #WNBA CBA for the middle class of players .
-God gives an important recommendation in Matthew 17:5
1000000000%
And you, O generation, behold the word of The Point God!
-The epigraph of this now-complete thread on raced/gendered labor + anti-union BS that fronts as queer feminism, and which is relevant to the WNBPA and #WNBA updates. Jeremiah 2:31.
p.s. pod linked @ the end but obvs the relevance is broader
75/ Pay them. Pay us all. Eat the rich. Etc.
74/ It says: don’t be that girl who kills the vibe, who makes the cute family spat bigger than necessary, who isn’t grateful for her allowance from the “investors” turning her labor into their profit. Smile, bitch!
So, yeah, skepticism + rage are appropriate responses to this nonsense.
73/ Ending w bickers recalls all the gendered and raced labor that is devalued under a capitalist system that nevertheless relies on it (that’s the NBA!). It also makes a rhetorical association between the WNBPA and, like, a minor spat that one party (the emotional woman!) magnified unnecessarily.
72/ Bickers are cute, flirty lil arguments that couples have in domestic spaces. You can scale up — what’s this REALLY about? the way to load a dishwasher? or something else? — but obvs that’s not the look.
Unless of course you’re an unstable, ungrateful, killjoy bitch!
71/ The podcast interview ends on “bickers.” This is where it started and it makes sense, for all the reasons we reviewed before and then some. Why does it make sense?
Think about what a “bicker” is.
