As for the tech, well, the Adeptus Mechanicus does observe/make obeisance to the spirits found in machines, yes. Sure they are crazy, but they also believe in the Omnissiah, officially an "aspect" of the Emperor, who guides them in tech. Ironically, a Void Dragon/Shard of C'tan inside Mars.

Much of the esthete of the Empire is death and semi-death based - the dying/undying figure on his throne, fed by the souls of murdered psykers to guide humanity home. In this sense, the Marines are part of that esthete. They, too, die regularly for the Emperor and humanity.

Well, the easy way to understand it is, if worship of the Emperor is a religion, the Astartes are a cult of veneration. They protest that the Emp. is/was just a man (Templars being a loud exception, they actually worship), but in action they venerate their founder/grandparent to a messianic level.

I can think of a couple right now I'd sure like - nanosurgeons, toxin binders, enhanced antibodies. Biomonitor. Muscle and bone lace. Replaced and enhanced lungs. Maybe a detuned Sportheart 2000. Light skinweave would have saved me some scars...pain editor, of course, properly adjusted.

Depends on how you feel about "transhumanism" and what role electrical, mechanical and biological enhancement will play in that. We both have a list of an easy dozen pieces of 'ware that would be nice - if it wasn't for the commensurate cost. And if we had the nerve, need or conditioning required.

Haven't run it. I did run a DG/Cyberpunk game years ago. Well, DG with 2020s cyberware, more. Style and Substance and Punk were less relevant than, say, not being converted by black zombie goop. Fun though! FNFF works well in DG.

Our ornithopter perches right behind my wife's seat for TTRPG every week. Mind you, this was a gift, so I -had- to accept it.

This year, one of my best gaming experiences so far has been finally doing a 2077 VR run in Quest 3. Wasn't really planning on it, but started my heavily modded playthrough and ended up in VR. Set up right with good hardware, it's...inimitable. To use a fancy word that means, like nothing else.
