Truth! I’m also amazed that almost everywhere in the world has it’s own variant of a large crested woodpecker.

The expression of all owls, basically.

A large owl with yellow eyes and a look of resignation. It has two ear tufts, blowing in a strong breeze. It shares the same colours and textures as the branches around it.

I’m usually lucky enough to find one great horned owl a year, and I saw this one blending with branches in a scraggly forest on Sunday, buffeted by a harsh wind. I share its look of resignation – I am done with this winter, even if it isn’t done with this owl and me. #birds
