Four mid-40-somethings in my large un-overlapping circle of acquaintances have chosen to exit within the past few years and the only common thread I can tease out of those tragedies is perimenopause. As women, we HAVE to talk about this.

Blue dot in a red sea. Provincial yet Epicurean. Maker, Mother, Wife, Daughter, Crone. I divide my time between my library, my garden, my workshop, my PS5, and my kitchen. Everything you see, I owe to love and music. No DMs, if you please.

I'm calling this "The Crack Conundrum."
Somebody pointed out that it reads like a Call of Duty expansion pack title.
I have never seen a human being who seems so eager to inflict collateral damage with the sole purpose of being able to shrug it off as a dominance display.
And when they succeed and mental health tanks even more than it already has, they'll run the same playbook with those meds.
And now YouTube has gone down? What a weird coincidence!
I was solo this year, which means I was able to tailor every flavor to my own particular taste without regard for anyone else's preference. Mustard BBQ sauce on the whole pack of wings, which were ALL MINE, and sweet pickled jalapenos in the queso. Bliss!!!
Tell me why!
I feel like I'm under the thumb of some weird combination of Harkonnens and Vogons.
Wow, they're starting the rewrite earlier than I expected!
I've been to some jam band concerts that got really close.
Academics vying for a spot in Epsteinβs world. There are so many. I feel the need to make a thread, so I donβt keep confusing them. 1/
But the portions are much smaller. That's how they get you!
Genius.
They've been unable to provoke a riot so far. This might do the trick, between the alcohol and sports emotions running high. (And I think we can all agree that the riot is what they're after.)
This seems to be the whole of it, yeah. Whatever happened in that man's prison cell, it happened far too quickly.
We NC Democrats are in absolute shock. Tillis and his statements have taken center stage in the local news cycle for the moment... I cannot believe what I'm reading.
This Southern girl loves Chicago with all her heart! Keep up the good fight!
I never travel without mine!
My Grandpa's prize beagle was named Bugle for this very sound. His was lustrous, long and low, with a hint of vocal fry that would make Kardashians weep with envy.
I took this screenshot from a FB conversation. No bots in this convo - real people for certain. I kept it because it's literally one person practicing the most basic form of empathy - identifying with a shared characteristic - followed by another person telling them to cut it out. Just wild.
I wonder what on earth is the difference? Maybe it's got something to do with their names...?
Clearly, it is to the Democratic Governors that we must look for leadership. Which is such bullshit. Congress was RIGHT THERE.
"She refused to comply, so he was justified in shooting her." Which is a whole different message.
I've noticed that they see the public refusing to believe the lie, so the narrative is beginning to shift. Instead of "she was trying to kill him, so he was justified in shooting her" I'm starting to hear more and more - from their talking heads and from the army of comment bots on social media -
Did they really think nobody was going to notice that discrepancy?
Takes a lot to render me speechless, but the morning news roundup has managed it. TFP...
Our best option was triple, for significantly worse insurance.
Hereβs my pep talk after studying authoritarianism: 1). They never truly expect a long-term resistance movement bc they think people are a collection of trauma triggers who are easily controlled thru terror 2). If they canβt terrorize you 24/7 in your mind, they have already lost the war 3). The single best way you can resist fascism is to not let them terrorize you constantly. Protect your mental health to ensure you are not constantly in a terrorized state 4). Keep connecting to who you are at your core. Your values, preferences, ethics, and beliefs. Build up capacity to resist 5). Remember they are like abusive parents: they only see us extensions of them. They have no clue how powerful joy and community and self-expression can be. We can use this to our advantage β we can be the strong-willed child they never saw coming. Spending time connecting to your true self is not selfish in these times β itβs intricately connected to a resistance movement that is tied to honoring our bodies, our communities, and to the land. We have to build capacity to resist by being exactly who we are!

Do we even know for sure that it's real marble? (I can spot real silk at 10 yards, but I'm rubbish with stone.)
