Finally, this is how I feel sometimes when I wake up and open Bluesky to YET ANOTHER FRESH HELL.
Back of the magazine. It was mailed to INDUSTRIAL WORKER.
The table of contents of anyone was interested.
The journey towards Transhumanism in five frames.
Crumbβs digital classroom of the future, more unloved TRS-80s. Looks like hell, but tbh not much worse than what kids have to deal with now.
R. Crumbβs vision of a computer nerd.
But what they got wrong is that fox (duck?) ended up not needing to be driven to work, has actually left Manhattan entirely and lives their life as a highly-paid digital nomad between Turks & Caicos, Barcelona, and Park City.
Driverless cars imagined for the wealthy, where a Tinman-like robot will drive you from your Upper East Side home to your job in the financial district.
They didnβt imagine exactly the Apple Watch, but were hoping for 2-way wrist holograms.
Here was the cover of the magazine.
More computers in warfare, imagining a future of robotic combat. Love how the one is wielding a couple of little ICBMs.
This is how the tanks were meant to look
1985. The current status made me thing of these drones in conflict, as imagined by artist Ray Valdes, in the March/April 1985 edition of Science for the People, special issue βComputing the Future.β
Maybe the most excitement a TRS-80 ever had.
Never heard of it, but looked it up, pretty cool.
Fantastic. I have never heard of such a device.
Not at all the same, but I just remembered this stove top percolator type of coffee pot that my parents had, I loved that it had this glass knob and you could see the coffee bubbling under the glass.
Itβs good though that they are using proper Steelcase office furniture, able to last through multiple World Wars.
Also, what kind of tea/coffee system is this? Is it a bit like a Chemex? Glass samovar?
That same Army Navy surplus place has this special little stove βrecommended for civil defense shelters,β although the drawings on the box are the picture of tranquility, without any hint of warfare or desperation.
Photo-illustration of Lupino in glamorous pose holding cigarette in holder. Image gradually fades into white background away from her face.

"No matter that some of her worst moments came as she tried to defend Mr. Trumpβs morally indefensible policies. The president can now claim credit for firing a very bad employee, even as he and Mr. Miller continue promoting chaos and brutality."

"The more furiously Ms Noem contorted herself to fit this Trumpworld mold & catch the attention of MAGA, the more she risked earning the contempt of the very people she wanted to impress. Then, when she outlasted her usefulness, she was casually sloughed off." - Michelle Cottle NYT.

Jan. 6 rioter pardoned by Trump in Jan. 6 case gets life sentence for child sex crimes
So much fog right now. This view should show a lot of skyscraper lights, but 311 S. Wacker with its brightly illuminated βcrownβ is pretty much the only one that really shows up.
Haha yes I remember film, I loved film.
PokΓ©mon Company International pushed back against the White Houseβs repeated use of its intellectual property after the Trump administration published a βMake America Great Againβ meme that used characters like Pikachu and Magikarp.
Does counterculture still exist or has the internet basically killed it?
Is there a modern day equivalent to, like, being a skater or a punk or some such?
Itβs so cool how weβre in a large-scale military conflict and the President is spending his time building a ballroom.
This rocks. I finally know what being a Roman must have felt like.
Haha
