More often, wind can blow directly from the warm ocean.

We had a cold spell, but that was due to the Arctic push (which itself is warmer than usual). If you look at charts, you would see a hotter world.
The weather (sky) has things like clouds and storms that take in air from the south (giving us cold) but push warmer air to the Arctic. The graph shows time, from blue to red. (cool to warmer)

So much red. The blue is mostly the dropping of the Arctic jet-stream.
