The students were eager to learn more and asked thoughtful questions in both English and Spanish! If you're interested in working with me, I'll send you my details. I am fully booked all of February and March with limited availability in April. I also have availability in May and June.
I spoke about my work as an author and how the writing process involves a lot of reading and revising. I shared how my Dominican and Puerto Rican heritage, my work as a community organizer, my family, and personal experiences all inspire my stories and books.
I am so grateful to Berkeley Carroll School for welcoming me to their beautiful school. As a bilingual author, storyteller, and speaker I spoke with the Lower School Students in Grades 2-4. I read excerpts from her books “Plátanos Are Love” and “The Bronx Is My Home."
