The children rehearsed alongside Ulster Orchestra players and Crescendo tutors, getting their first taste of large-scale ensemble playing. The session included a first run-through of Mars from The Planets – an exciting step towards their final performance with the full Orchestra in June.
At the beginning of February, we held the first of three joint rehearsals bringing together around 140 P7 pupils from our Crescendo schools: Holy Evangelists’, Good Shepherd, Wheatfield and Malvern.

Sam Kane, composer of 'Danu's Rhapsody', which we will perform in Friday night's concert, is someone the Ulster Orchestra knows well. Sam participated in our Professional Experience Scheme in 2019, and has since performed with the Orchestra as a freelancer.

Our first Come & Play day of the year took place last month, where over 60 amateur musicians at Grades 3-6 level joined the Ulster Orchestra for a day of rehearsals, where they got guidance from our musicians before performing in a showcase concert in front of family and friends.
