The most devastating insult ever delivered in all of the Trekverse.

Crisp Rat has major β€œsecret bottom” energy.

The Jurassic World movies are generally very good but by JW: Dominion I am sick to death of crisp rat putting up the palms of his hands towards any aggressive dinosaur like he’s somehow in charge and not just a moderately filling snack.

Why do employers insist on using the absolutely nonsensical terms β€œexempt” and β€œnon-exempt” when β€œhourly” and β€œsalary” are right there?

Every time I have to look up which one is which because my brain just will not remember stupid things like that.

Get that off my screen please.

I love mystery but I also love answers.

…the phenomenon needed a catalyst to activate. The presence of a special, rare kind of child.

And when we get that later tie in between the mobile home village and the nearby reservation, that another child will mysteriously appear. From even longer ago. One from the prehistoric flashback.

The prehistoric flashback is a stand alone part. I suppose I could do without it. But I was kind of imagining a tie-in later in present day, between the people in the mobile home village and a nearby Native American reservation.

And also… I was kind of thinking that

If you’ve got five minutes to waste, I’d appreciate some feedback on the story idea in this thread.

Before I put a ton of effort into developing this, I just want to know:

Are you interested? Do you want to know more? Do you want to see where it goes from here?

09.03.2026 01:16 πŸ‘ 8 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 4 πŸ“Œ 0

…Then, well, I can’t give it all away. But this is a start.

I think.

…then, the boy’s perspective.

He watches a new drainage system be built in his quiet, tiny town. The drainage system, where the now dried up hot springs used to flow, is disruptive to the ancient, exotic rock formations. The boy explores and finds strange phenomena. No one believes him.

…They discover the extraordinary healing properties of some exotic rock formations and a natural hot spring that flows from them. After adolescence they experience slowed aging and lifelong good health. But it doesn’t work for visitors, only those raised there. But rivals still want what they have.

…Then to the 1960s/1970s to see the impact that the missing boy had on his father, who was accused of kidnapping him and then killing him when the boy was never found.

Then… Prehistoric times with a pre-Navajo Native American tribe living where the town under the lake will eventually be.

…The opening chapter/episode will be from the cop’s perspective. I’ll have it all set in rural AZ.

Then flashback to the 1950s/60s when the woman who could be the mother was young. Twist: She has a twin sister, and that’s who we really met in the previous chapter.

So, what happened to the mother?

…just realized this is kind of like the reverse of the M. Night Shyamalan movie β€œOld” about that hidden beach where people aged rapidly.

Anyway… my head has been swimming all day about how to treat this story. I’ll have to tell it from different perspectives in different time periods.

Intentionally causing an energy crisis and a severe spike in gas prices for no significant gain that any average American will recognize 8 months before a midterm election seems like a boneheaded move, even for turmp.

He must be pretty confident in his ability to rig the election.

You’re not even our second favorite Judy.

…It might be arrogant to describe the book I wrote as β€œsuccessful”. I’m not rich now or anything.

It made enough to pay off my student loan. But more importantly it let me work out my lingering issues from what I went through.

I think so too.

I’ve never written any fiction that I was happy with, but it’s been ages since I’ve tried.

Years ago I wrote and published a successful book about something that happened to me. Maybe I could give fiction a try now.

I’m not sure I could fit every nuance into a screenplay, though.

…was she his mother?

She wouldn’t tell me

Was she afraid that the secret of the lake would be exposed? Why was that more important than finding her child?

She wouldn’t leave with me to see the boy. Did the effect of the lake fade with distance?

Anyway, I think I have something new to write about

08.03.2026 17:05 πŸ‘ 6 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

…I fell asleep again after that third post above, but there was more.

There was no current missing child report for the boy I found. But just when my suspicions were forming about what the lake was doing to the people there I found a woman who was intrigued by my description of the kid.

08.03.2026 17:05 πŸ‘ 4 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

…the water that kept people young only worked by swimming in it, and only in that one spot. Drinking it or taking it elsewhere didn’t work. And it only seemed to work for the people who already lived there before the lake was built.

It didn’t work on kids either, so everyone there was middle aged.

08.03.2026 11:03 πŸ‘ 10 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

…there was a little village of mobile homes clustered on the edge of the lake. The homes and cars were all old.

The people all frequently swam in the lake and they really did not want me investigating.

I figured out the water kept them from getting old. But only there, near where they were parked.

Quick. Before it fades. In the dream when I was still a cop I found this lost little boy and his dog. The dog had old rabies tags from the 60s and the boy had mail in his pocket postmarked from then too. He said he got lost playing inside a storm drain. Where he insisted he lives is under a lake now
