I think we should allow Trump to choose Iran’s next leader as long as the rest of us can choose America’s. Because it’s clearly far too important a job to be left in the hands of Americans.

Our oldest Monks Wood Marsh Tit has survived his 11th winter, and is singing again on his territory, 40 m from where he was colour-ringed in 2015. He's been widowed again so is advertising for a new female. He's probably in the top 5 oldest Marsh Tits recorded in Britain. #ukbirding #ornithology

Geopolitical turmoil in the Middle East once again shows that reliance on volatile oil and gas exposes economies to price shocks.

Renewables, electrification and storage offer more stable long term energy costs and stronger energy security.

Humanity heating planet faster than ever before, study finds Researchers identify sharp rise to about 0.35C every decade, after excluding natural fluctuations such as El NiΓ±o

It doesn’t matter whether the rate of global warming is increasing. It’ll never cease to amaze me that people don’t care that it’s happening at all. It should be the most alarming thing ever.

What’s the first record you remember buying with your own money?

My first album was Dead Kennedys β€˜Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables’. The three singles leading up to its release were just the stuff for a 13-yo punk and the album got played endlessly. β€˜Holiday in Cambodia’ still gives me chills.

WAR CRIME BY THE US.

An unarmed Iranian ship was takIng part in an Indian naval exercise, alongside the US.

The US withdrew and torpedoed the Iranian ship.

THEN the US refused to rescue the sailors, letting them drown.

This is treachery, cowardice, cruelty and a war crime of the highest order.

An excellent thread using facts to unpick right wing press misinformation and downright lies. And hiding the fact that their mates in the Tory party cost the taxpayer hundreds of thousands by acting unlawfully when in power.

Also a view increasingly held at the practising bar: our judges are political and are not transparent about their politics.

Read these words from 100 years ago about immigrants in Britain – and see how history is chillingly repeating itself | George Monbiot Shabana Mahmood’s new rights clampdown looks outlandish until we remember that this kind of hardline action is part of our country’s fabric, says George Monbiot

The precedent is eerily, chillingly precise. What the current Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood is doing to immigrants and refugees today is almost a carbon copy of what Sir William Joynson-Hicks was doing 100 years ago. And that's not a good thing. My column.

The UK needs more immigrants, not fewer. But this Labour government seems determined to turn the racism dial to 11 and put Reform in power.

It would be great if all nature reserve owners reviewed their bird feeding activities. Sure, its going to be heard to remove these obvious visitor attractions, but think about the good PR and messaging that can be done around this to encourage homeowners to review their bird feeding. #ukwildlife πŸͺΆ

One of the finest scopes in the World, the Kowa TSN-88A is one of our favourite #seawatching scopes. Pin-sharp all the way up to 60x, you'll never be disappointed by its performance - even when Britain's coastal climate throws its worst at you!
