You had occasion to mention IRGC facilities, missile launchers, etc. but deliberately omitted it. Maybe the day Iran targets your studios in the Emirates, you will realize? Nothing is sure...
Maman comes back from Roma and she knows what gifts to bring back to papa and Yuri 😉
(Ok-ok I like the Panini album too)
CHAG PURIM SAMEACH !

Bravo Christophe and the team! With all due respect to JNeurosci...your cover beats the GPT-edited one they selected 😅
CDG *is* the worst. No debate allowed.
Neuronal systems may therefore represent one of the clearest biological contexts in which subcellular localization becomes directly coupled not only to function but also circuit plasticity.
More recently, these transport pathways have been linked to local translation mechanisms in axons and synapses, connecting subcellular localization to plasticity, peripheral nerve regeneration, or even memory-related processes.
Over the past ~15 years, work on many factors (including the nuclear carriers importins) has revealed roles beyond classical nucleocytoplasmic shuttling, in long-distance axonal signaling, injury responses, and compartment-specific regulation in mature neurons.
Because of their extreme polarity, neurons rely on tightly regulated spatial trafficking and compartment-specific protein synthesis. Localization is not simply modulation. It defines the functional outcome.
A timely review in Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology by Emma Lundberg and colleagues discussing how subcellular localization drives protein function.

In our favorite cells (neurons), this principle is pushed to its limits !
Huge energy today at "Les 12h30 de la recherche" !
From ~20 participants to 60+ today. Amazing to see such growing interest in conversations bridging clinical practice and basic science.
Thank you to our speakers and everyone. The dialogue between bench and bedside is clearly alive and thriving.

Then, would glial cells-based sealing work ?
As a Humboldt Fellow, SPPIN’s director @martin-oheim.bsky.social can host a German researcher or a "Bildungsinländer" (M.Sc and PhD in 🇩🇪) for a multi-year postdoc or research stay in his lab.
Apps from outstanding candidates interested in developing an ambitious research in France are welcomed !
Very important topic. IMO, it is not all academia who fails here but specific societies. We were lucky with my partner to do our research...and our kid in Israel where it is VERY common to see mothers at all training levels. The Weizmann is doing great to allow its researchers to be parents too !
Just saw a review about using transcranial NIR (no optogenetics here) to treat Rett syndrome. Excuse my ignorance but apart from suggesting that photons will hit the mitochondria (and more), I see only wishful thinking here. Anyone here to tell if this is real ?
