If I can move on from xfire & skype.. discord is no different other than the amount of folks that thought it was a good idea to condense their entire life's works into one chat program not made for anywhere near what it's being used for.

Well with the upcoming discord change I'm downloading what I need from discord-only sources then preparing to nuke everything I have discord related. Hoping for the last second "haha jk" policy change, but it's by far the first program I've binned and I have other means of contacting friends.

Working through a problem gives you insight that may help fix similar issues in the future. Having a machine to fill in answers that are probably correct leaves you high and dry when that tool isn't available or causes further issues. I wish more people would realize this.

Adding MMD to more avatars and just dealing with the horrors of blendshapes defaulting to 1 when created in Blender 5.0.

I'm indecisive and can never decide on one design.. I may have also had one for a while.

God, got hit with this last night and what a wild 5 years its been. Met my wife and many, many good people. Learned Unity, relearned Blender(previously used 2.x in school) & paintdotnet for avatar work. VRChat has helped me through some tough times by keeping me in contact with so many good friends.

I'm glad I get to share this and many more christmases to come.

So I spent an hour trying to figure out why an animation had the wrong path, but wasn't broken until I tried to fix it which broke it... but ctrl+z continued to have it broken because I previously changed it to work in the editor.. which didn't update the file! AAAA!

Today I learned that Unity does not update files that need changed in a project(Sometimes?) until some point later, but will immediately update the project if a file is changed at any point by an outside program...

Should also add here that this is me angry about the battery being dumb and not the adapter Reweth made. It works wonderfuly and I'm very thankful she made it so I don't have to do insane things with a broken AC cable. It also has a belt clip that allows me to remove the stress on the cables.

It's been the best out of the box facetracking I could find that "just works" with minimal tinkering, but everything else has just been AAAA.. thinking of maybe going back to stream cable, but fighting with the vive space calibrator & playspace setup again have me unsure..just gonna end my rant here

...better when plugged directly into the headset and do not require constant calibration like they did when plugged into my PC or laptop. Just getting frusturated with this setup of everything almost being good, but I run into one more glaring problem.

...I want to now do work on the strap to give it extra ventilation to prevent the overheating issues, but Reweth has suggested trying ice packs first before I go full frankenstein on it. A new streaming cable is an option, but the Vive Ultimate Tracker dongle is there now and they seem to work...

...And now I have this wonderful piece of improvised charging equipment(thanks to my wonderful wife Reweth making it) and I'm now dealing with the overheating issues because the battery will ALWAYS charge even at 100% when plugged in so it will discharge and recharge until it refuses to charge...

..the time the Index tether lasted(died at about 1K hours vs just around 3K for the Index cable) despite similar prices(double if you want the Display Port addon). I've since switched to wireless, but the AC cable quickly went bad too despite using it only when sitting(or standing to calibrate)...

Quickly discovering how much of an afterthought PCVR is with the Vive Focus Vision. Been trying to come up with ways to avoid having to buy multiple batteries and doing hot swaps for "extended" (i.e. normal PCVR use). The streaming cable provides power, but went bad after roughly 1/3rd...(cont.)

Not only can I not decide on a single avatar in VRChat I can't decide on a single color for the avatars. With VRC detecting mat swaps for texture memory I've started taking off my toggles and just doing different uploads and... some of my scenes are starting to look silly.

OHHH that makes a lot more sense than what I was thinking at first!

The best way to avoid getting new avatars for me is to remember that if I do get one I won't use it much until I add everything for FT & MMD.

Exploring ways to fix a smile that's too big for the teeth in the mouth. I could.. change each involved blendshape to be more sane, move the teeth around, make sure the inside of the mouth doesn't move with the lips... or I could just make the teeth longer and not care about the nightmares.

I just used uBlock Origin's element selector on Firefox to nuke the parts of the page with the AI suggestions on Google & it seems to still load the page fine. I did the same to Youtube Shorts & Fandom wiki pages. It's satisfying like peeling the sheen protector off a new purchase.
