A healthy film industry makes sleazy movies. Weird, borderline kink films are like coal mine canaries- they're offensive, often deeply personal, and a foil to the clean blandness of big budget propaganda. A lack of bizarre "not to everyone's taste" films is an indicator of a sickly studio ecosystem.

The 'No grace period' drives home that this is specifically an attack on trans people, rather than anything else transphobes will probably claim it to be. Its a boot on a face.
it's 2016: north carolina introduces a bill to ban trans people from using bathrooms safely. there's a national outcry; companies withdraw business up to and including the NCAA cancelling a publicized game. the bill fails.
it's 2026: kansas passes a law nullifying trans people's licenses. crickets.
The gender marker was introduced as a paranoid reaction to the idea that it was possible to be unsure of someone's gender, and it will always be a mechanism for reprimanding those whose appearance doesn't meet expectations in line with what it says on the ID.

In all seriousness as much as I am worried about the internet as we know it I do see all these actions taken against age verification and digital id laws and it does make me feel a bit hopeful. Keep calling and writing your senators and representatives.
I’m gonna be honest with yall: is there any hope? It’s hard to remain hopeful when so much shit is going on. The uncertainty of age verification makes me wonder if I will even be able to post my art anymore.
Someone please give me reason to keep my chin up.
