Yeah, absolutely! Thank you for doing this. Will take a look when I can! ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

I love simple text-based websites. Yours has that personal touch and is so nice! :)

@peterfriese.dev Didnโ€™t expect the next update already! Any way to recommend the best way to see the diffs between book versions? Does it just reflect swift-book repo? I wanna keep tabs on it to see if I ever need to do additional prints for pages or have a compendium of diffs :)

Wow, I am delighted to have that honor! :D

This was the first time I've ever used a print-on-demand-and-deliver service! I researched lots. Was really skeptical. Had reservations something would go wrong. But it was really easy and perfect. And as of yesterday, I've been informed my copy is no longer the only one in existence :)

I'm intrigued by this. Can't wait to see how you'll do it! :)

Agreed! Itโ€™s probably be better to go through Apple directly since crawling doesnโ€™t feel as good as using something published openly with a license to use it like the @swift.org docs.

This is me posting into the void, but if anyone has a contact at HQ who could make this happen, thatโ€™d be amazing!

Hey thanks for asking! It's a good question.

Sadly, I'm not able to provide a project copy. I don't want to get in trouble for commercialization against the Swift license.

But I do believe the instructions I left in the thread are super clear. Please feel free to ask if you need any help! :)

@peterfriese.dev I imagine this would be a lot harder, but I would love to make a standalone copy of the SwiftUI documentation too! Do you think itโ€™s possible?

I got featured in @peterfriese.dev โ€˜s really cool Not Only Swift newsletter!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜„

In any case, I appreciate the share. Seems useful. Iโ€™ll evaluate!

Cassidy on AI Cassidy doesn't use AI on her website, but she does talk about it sometimes!

I dunno when or where itโ€™s worth mentioning this (probably everywhere), but I donโ€™t use AI to create any stuff I post online (unless explicitly mentioned, in which case itโ€™s usually comedic/satirical).

I first learned about the /ai page from @cassidoo.co . I intend to make my own at some point!

Other times, I have my computer display off (sleeping) but the background sounds still running while Iโ€™m doing tasks in front of my workstation. Like reading a technical paper, for example. In those instances, muting wouldnโ€™t be ideal (though of course I can just not run the app!)

17.02.2026 08:01 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

To your reply:

Thanks for the recc! Iโ€™ll take a look. Do you happen to know if it auto-pauses any playing media when the sleep condition is met? I prefer the former to auto-mute since muted media still plays and can cause me to return to an unexpected place in a podcast, for example.

First off, congratulations for being my ๐Ÿฅ‡ first ever reader! :) Iโ€™ve been on and off with the goal to write more, even if it has always been for myself. I donโ€™t collect any analytics (and have no desire to do so), so I donโ€™t know who actually sees this. Mentions like these are so nice, so thank you!

Oh my!! Thanks for putting this on my radar. Iโ€™ve been itching go to my first Swift conf.

Was considering Deep Dish Swift, Swift Craft, Swift Leeds, and try! Swift Tokyo. Couldnโ€™t make ANY of those dates sadly.

Iโ€™m highly considering this one because it actually works out well with my schedule! :)

Really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing!

Even though Iโ€™m primarily interested in computing, I love it when we breach the gates of topicality. I see worth also in exploring under the same breath re: politics, policy, governance.

Heck or even learning how to paint.

Do I *really* know my tools? ๐Ÿ˜…

Iโ€™d hate to be at the other side of the this for fear of messing up, but even this part gave me quite the chuckle:

> And then heโ€™d see whether they would actually admit โ€œI donโ€™t know the answer to thatโ€, or whether they would bluff. He knew that nobody understood the system all of the way down.

I set mine to US Letter. It worked perfectly. I love how I can make notes in the margins, too.

In case anyone decides to go this route and sees this, these are the settings I used on Lulu:

Book: US Letter (8.5 x 11 in / 216 x 279 mm), Color, 60# White โ€” Uncoated, Hardcover Case Wrap, Matte Cover

10.02.2026 23:27 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

It was $49.39 delivered stateside and zero misprints! Can you believe it?! ๐Ÿ˜„

Literally uploaded the Swift lang typeset PDF as is, added my custom cover, and it worked like a charm!

I chose color print. And found some random 10% off coupon before ordering. Other competitors were 3x the price!

10.02.2026 22:57 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I designed the cover quickly using their interactive designer. I didnโ€™t want it to be too bare, so I chose the color Swift lang uses.

I guess I should mention this is for private use only. No intention to sell it or claim any affiliation or endorsement by Apple, of course.

Using it is such a joy!

Itโ€™s exists in my hands because of you! The only thing Iโ€™ll have to figure out which diffs to print when the language updates. Because this version is forever stuck at v6.2.3 ๐Ÿ˜‚

I evaluated a lot of different print services, and ended up going with a service called Lulu! Cheapest and best quality!

A month ago, @peterfriese.dev turned the @swift.org language into a typeset PDF. Today I turned it into a physical print textbook. This was such a fun project!

Words cannot describe how immensely grateful I am this reference now exists in my hands. Learning is now more accessible to me. Thank you!!

A Love Letter To The Personal Website | The Old Web Congrats to us for passing 200 members!!! The first few days since we opened for the public beta of Digg has gotten me asking myself what used to be so fun about the internet? What am I experiencin...

Substantive piece as usual! Apt b/c lately Iโ€™ve been interested in the spirit of the old web. LLMs affect it. Itโ€™s b/c of you Iโ€™ve actually started being more active online with intent. And we even had a nice and thoughtful discussion about your piece the other week. Just wanted to let you know! :)

RSS is still a treasure. I just switched to @netnewswire.com the other day, and it is excellent! And they just launched 7.0 of the iOS app today with Liquid Glass :)

Okay, wow. After only a few minutes in, I also wasn't expecting to utter the same thing. I've been purposefully forgoing any agentic tooling since I want really solid fundamentals. I wonder if I'm holding myself back at times. Will read up on Xcode 26.3 later. It's getting harder to resist... geez!

Congrats!!! So appreciate that you created a space for iOS devs, especially @iosdevhappyhour.com ! It was so helpful and fun when I was just getting started not too long ago. Good luck with the new job! :)

We shipped our MCP server back in October last year. Here are five (of many!) things weโ€™ve been using it for ๐Ÿงต โ†“

(Weโ€™re big Claude Code fans here, but you can use any MCP-compatible client)
