The first Furcon was in 1989 and before that there were furry parties at other conventions. Here is a furry party posters from the 80s:
the aura of these images....
Despite a LOT of researching and asking around, the origin of this picture and its concept remains an open mystery... Osamu Tezuka had visited the US a few times throughout the 60s 70s and 80s. Particularly his visit in 1979 with Ward Kimball is interesting. Tezuka was somewhat shameless about his like for furry media and art. Perhaps you can solve this mystery yourself. Is it possible this picture was for Tezuka? Even without that element, what could this image represent? It would seem obvious that it must be some sort of maw infatuation play... what implications that would have LOL

I wrote a little more about this interesting piece in the Alt text

Its perhaps a little dated at this point LOL
Mee is correct! The spellcheck got it before I did
"The Yiffy Guide to Safer Sex" Convention Pamphlet by Andrew Murphy Lee, Charles Davies, Lance Rund, Ken Sample, Sean Thomas, Sean Wilkinson, Wookie (1996)
Likewise! I have a LOT more art on this topic that contains many such surprises.
A raccoon fursuit wearing leather harness and chain leash, his arm around a smiling convention attendee at Confurence 1993 in the artist alley. There are people behind the pair but it's too dark to make out details.
A Lola Bunny fursuit wearing black lace panty-hose and holding a crop. She is posing. A watermark for Upright Fox is in the top corner.
A seductive mustelid fursuiter holds a leather crop, his white and blue fur under leather vest, belt and low-riding jock strap pose in front of an empty convention hallway table.
A gender-bent bear fursuit with eye liner wears latex from the waist down, and a corset. A smiling con goer looks on in his white teeshirt with a busty anthro animal on it. There is a busy crowd behind them.
Furry has been kinky since the beginning as illustrated by these photos from Confurence 1993 (curated by www.instagram.com/d0gfag/) There has always been a demand for adult spaces in furry. The fandom was founded on the idea that adults can use anthro animals and cartoons to express adult interests.
Perhaps unusual, but it is part of our history! I thought for a while if I wanted to share this one or not, but I think it's important that I do.
Out of courtesy I will let them speak up if they wish n.n though I would say you're most likely correct in your guess.

damn, THAT'S what that picture is from??
There are just a few Keller pieces ive seen that are yiffy- but they are out there! Usually small and hidden on pages

I actually did not know that!!!!
"FAWN" Poster by J. Collins (1982)
It appears this was made soon after "Tron (1982)" was released in the USA.
I just realized how that lined up! It does make me happy to see people remembering Sy, I spent many hours at their place over many years. He inspired a lot of the desire to share and preserve these things.
I know two of the furs in this picture and they're both still alive and still furries <3
Well happy to remind you n.n been a little while since the last time you saw!?
By J. Collins (1982)
Yes i do think so! I was a bit surprised when I saw this one, it made me feel happy to see that unexpected representation
