The cover of Why Do Birds Suddenly Disappear? White, with title and author’s name and so forth, and a few nice quotes about it, you know the kind of thing. The subtitle is “200 birds. 12 months. 1 lapsed birdwatcher.” Disappearing (geddit?) to the right is the back half of a goldcrest.
Ten years ago, inspired by the return of my childhood interest in birds, I set myself a target: see 200 British species in a year.
The result was this book.
