NEW: Hurricane Melissa was such a monstrous tempest that it was literally shaking the Earth as far away as Florida, where seismometers picked up its stormquakes.
Hereโs how seismometers can also shine a light on hurricanes long gone.

Exquisite dome-headed dinosaur unearthed in Mongolian desert is oldest ever found ... www.discoverwildlife.com/dinosaurs/za... #dinosaurs
Looks incredible. Unfortunately we cannot attend.
Damn! Now thatโs raising the bar! Time to find an even spikier Desmatosuchus.

A photo of the fossilized remains of Prestosuchus on display in the Museum. The animal is quadrupel and low to the ground. It has a dinosaur-like skull.
Meet Prestosuchus chiniquensis. It lived in whatโs now Brazil some 210 million years ago. Although it was a large animal with big claws & a huge head with sharp-toothed jaws, it wasn't a dinosaurโit's actually a close relative of crocodylomorphs.

In 2023, a erm.... controversial paper tried to rename Prestosuchus to Huenesuchus based on an egregious misapplication of the ICZN. My rebuttal of this is finally out, open access in @revbraspaleontol.bsky.social sbpbrasil.org/publications...

Most likely one of the Aetosaur specimens. Possibly Sierritasuchus?
The ornithopodย Iguanodonย was described on February 10, 1825. And on this day, is February 10, 2025.
Itโs been exactly 200 years since the โiguana toothโ dinosaur was described and named in a scientific paper!

Interesting study, but appears to depend on silesaurids being ornithischians. We just arenโt there yet. Keep looking.
