Totally unrelated, but I started rehearsing with a band some months ago and our first gig is around the corner so I'm kinda excited to be back on stage with my bass. ๐

Finished Final Fantasy 4, the Pixel Remaster, today. It's one of those games that, after finishing it and putting down the controller, I end up saying "man, i'm happy i played this". And, as a game designer, I feel I've learnt from it, too. W game.
Last saturday I managed to get the 880 moons. That rotted my brain.
I've been going back to Mario Odyssey's post-game lately and let me say I am addicted to it again.
In a few days, I managed to get almost 100 moons, and now I'm at 701, with 100% being 880 of those little things
The trailer i expected the least to see today on my front page

I also started another run on Resident Evil 1 Remake. For those who don't know me, there was a time that I played this so much it seemed my life depended on it.
On my journey to understand japanese, I decided to play Cuphead in it since it is not text-heavy. I'm doing it old-school.
Don't know a word? I will google it or die without knowing what did I just read and how to pronounce it.

Something all those youtube tips about indie game development don't tell you is that since we are all a bunch of computer cavemen, going out and exercising is so damn important. I swear I feel so energized thanks to these last 6 months on the gym.
My Steam review of Working Out is positive ๐
As with the previous pinned post, this is just a selfie of me, but my hair is dyed to my current color on it.
For any potential #mutuals, I'm interested in:
๐ป Video game development/design
โ๏ธ RPGs, especially Japanese or "inspired-by"
๐พ Retro console games (3rd to 6th gen mainly)
๐ถ Music, writing and listening to
๐ Stories/fiction, narrative games included
๐ฅ The indie scene
๐ฎ Whatever I'm playing atm
Yeah. Imagine buying a multi-million dollars platform for like double of what it's actually worth or whatever, with its own made-up verb that everyone knows and uses as intended by the brand, and going "yeah, no, this needs to go". I'm still amazed.
Something I love about the new social media landscape is that, at least around these parts of the world, every single news article or post refers to that other platform as "X (ex-Twitter)". Absolute failure of a rebranding.
Reaching the Abbey in DQ3 really itchs that part of my brain that wants to see numbers go up to a little Level Up tune.
I started posting on Tik Tok lol
Finished AI: The Somnium Files. Peak.
it really is amazing thinking how FF1 was a response to the success of DQ1&2 in Japan and attempted to go a step further with a party creation system that included a class upgrade halfway through, just for DQ3 a month later to be like "LOL HOW ABOUT NO LIMITS MULTICLASSING?"
For the record: to make it more inconsequential, I'm right-handed. LMAO
Also motion controls on Skyward Sword make it understandable. I wonder if it really tested differently on the Wii version of Twlight Princess having the character being right-handed instead of a leftie. Maybe they feared backlash since it was a launch game and they were testing out the waters.
My very inconsequential gaming take is that Link should have stayed left-handed. Idk why it bothers me seeing him on Twlight Princess (Wii ver.) and Skyward Sword using his right hand. BotW and TotK, I guess because the gameplay changes so much itself, I'm ok with it? Or it's the years that passed.
Meanwhile, some of the games I played as of lately: FF7 Rebirth, DQ3 HD2D, Emio The Smiling Man, Detective Instinct and Ace Attorney 6. I also wanna go back to The Somnium Files series and try the last Silent Hill game!
While all this is happening i'm planning to go back to job-hunting during the summer, and I also have a little pet project of my own on the works. Not a commercial game, but a game nonetheless. I just want to get little games out of my system while I work on the big one along with the team.
Meanwhile we ditched the ideas for the out-of-combat gameplay. Going from taking cues from games like Slay The Spire and Inscryption and their respective node-based maps, to something that is more puzzle-oriented. We are still at early stages tho, of course.
So far, we are still exploring grounds with our game Folk Tales for @sonadores-games.bsky.social . Ideas for the battle system are being brainstormed, but there is a spark in there that I'm still chasing as a designer. It will just be a matter of time.
It's been a while once again since I last posted in here, but I'm planning on coming back and yapping on games I'm playing and on games I'm working on. Small thread if you care:
Ay no TwT
Un amigazo eh!
Tbh, I am only now getting used to the idea of we having or own fully functional turn-based battle system for our RPG game like the ones we grew up with. Like, WTF?
Earlier this month we showed a really early prototype of the battle system for our game. Even though it needs tweaking and to be expanded upon the core idea, the feedback was great. We could see the people getting interested in what they played, even if they were not the biggest fans of the genre.
As always, it's been a while. With @sonadores-games.bsky.social , our game studio of 3, we are working on a turn-based RPG. I won't tell you many details right now, since it is a semi-personal account, but I will say I'm currently playing FF Tactics and I feel its story is a gold mine for us.
I tried the demo for this and it is SO MUCH FUN! Not a Day 1 purchase until I see some comments on the Switch 1 version's performance BUT even on 1P mode this is way more fun than Mario Kart 8, and I literally bought a console for that one and spent weeks playing it! youtu.be/lg591kVaGlc?...
Big update that I'll see how to properly announce through @sonadores-games.bsky.social 's account tomorrow. The prototype for the battle system for the first game from the studio has been finished after 3+ months of work. I was left speechless for like 15 minutes after realizing it.
8-bit Music Theory posting a vid about Dragon Quest is a highlight of the day for me.
