WE'RE GETTING HAUNTED BY YOUKAI IN NOROI KAGO: THE GRUDGED COURSE!! twitch.tv/onsta ✨
Cover image of An Orchid in my Belly Button by Katy Wimhurst, artwork by Alison Buck. A female figure is shown with grasses and flowers apparently growing on her skin and in her hair, scattering petals from poppies, buttercups and dandelions.
We are delighted that today is publication day for An Orchid in my Belly Button by @sylphsea.bsky.social Offbeat short stories that explore our fragile world.
As Dorothy Schwarz, says “magic realism at its finest”

If I get one, does it mean I've joined the Order and have to go meet a bunch of shady guys in the sewers of Paris on the reg?
I'm not saying that would put me off, mind...

Page one of my very wordy little comic about how hearing the Radio 4 dramatisation of The Worst Journey in the World changed my life. On this page: Things could be so much worse than I was having it in October 2008.
Page 2 of my comic about how the radio play of The Worst Journey in the World saved my life. On this page: I fall down the rabbit hole via Mark Gatiss and a secondhand bookshop on Charing Cross Road.
Page 3 of my comic about how the radio play of The Worst Journey in the World saved my life. On this page: I discover that the whole story is so much more than just the bits covered in the radio play and the Mark Gatiss docudrama, and the people involved are even more wonderful than such dramas could contain. I have a radical change of heart, embracing life's possibilities and abandoning old priorities.
Page 4 of my comic about how The Worst Journey in the World saved my life. On this page, I make a solo trip to the UK to celebrate the centenary of the Scott Expedition and find the return to my old life intolerable.
Career success thanks to symbiotic radio-listening might be enough to endear me to the BBC's output forever, but in fact I owe my entire present life to a two-part Classic Serial in 2008. @societyofauthors.bsky.social #SADatTheBBC
I fly in the sky with a pair of headphones and a portable radio, kept aloft by the bliss of fine audio drama.
13 Feb is World Radio Day, and the BBC is planning to cut drama budgets yet further, so I am starting a thread of drawings inspired by BBC radio dramas. (Leaving out worstjourney.com for now as that's its own story.) Hit social media with #SADatTheBBC to get on the radar tomorrow.
Good episode

I just bought my first Space Marines..
(insert oblig. "I'll never financially recover from this" pic)
So now the question is: do I commit to the bit and paint the Spice Girls-themed squad I told my friends I'd do?

I have a little plea and it's this: please keep posting about things that aren't The Horrors. I am not saying to not look at or be informed about The Horrors. What I am saying—what I am genuinely kind of begging you to do—is keep posting about books and movies and sunsets and pets and joy. Please.
The cover of The Devil’s Halo by Rhys Hughes was designed by Alison Buck. It consists of tessellations of a monochrome seated demon figure with a halo. The demon in the centre of the cover has a halo which is coloured gold. the artwork is very much an homage to M.C. Escher who produced many tessellated images.
We’re thrilled that The Devil’s Halo by Rhys Hughes is published today in both paperback and eBook formats, available from the usual retailers.

Rhys describes The Devil’s Halo as “a light comedy, a picaresque journey – like a warped subterranean Pilgrim’s Progress”.
