Trump multiple times just today has said the country is at war. War can only be declared by Congress, and Iran posed no imminent threat. What Trump is doing there is a textbook illegal war and impeachable offense — if we still had a Congress.

The Constitution is clear: Congress is responsible for authorizing offensive military action and declaring war. This President – or any President – should not launch America into sustained offensive military activity in the Middle East, or anywhere, without Congress’ authorization.
