I've always been fascinated by the power of visual storytelling, interspersed with topical humor to drive points home. When I was with NASA I explored this in many of my internal educational presentations. In order to truly understand present climate, we first need to understand its context. But look at the poor @theguardian.com here. I know they are an outlier in reporting reality, but their headline is screaming at us: "Look, a disaster! Be afraid, the world may literally end for us all, and their readers are like: "Hmmm... nope. Oh yes, what shall I buy everything for Christmas?"
I assume that for a lot of people, it's just too awful. It is overwhelming. And that people feel powerless, especially in the face of so much money and oppressive power. But I agree there is also a large dollop of don't care, which is kind of insane, right?
Everyone I know doesn't want to know about #COP29 #Fail . Even though @theguardian.com rightly leads with this story, their readers don't think it is as important as Christmas gifts or blind dates. #psychologists and #anthropologists on this platform may understand. I'm not sure I do.
