βI donβt think people have any idea of how hard it is for trans people. Just listen to their stories. Listen β not tell them. Everyone is unique. Make them feel included because you really donβt know.β - Billie Jean King #NOH8

two individuals staff a Sewer District recruiting table at a Cleveland PRIDE parade event. closest to the camera, a man stands with the back of his shirt visible. It shows a Sewer District logo and the words "Take PRIDE in the work you do. Be proud of who you are" in white text on light blue fabric.
to our Cleveland friends or weekend visitors, if you are attending Pride in the CLE tomorrow June 7, stop by our booth on Mall B and say hi for career opportunities, customer support, emotional support, etc etc and also take some of our stuff.
Ohio lawmakers are once again ambushing the citizen-initiative process. SB 153 is about power -- and who gets to wield it. The answer must remain: the people.
We oppose this attack on direct democracy.

Commentary: It isnβt just the DEI or climate grants getting the axe from President Trump. Science agencies face up to 55% cuts across the board. This means Ohio students will be denied opportunities for cutting-edge careers given to previous generations buff.ly/rvom6rH

My ongoing request:
If your NSF or NIH grant was terminated--whether at Harvard or elsewhere--please report it here.
NSF: grant-watch.us/submit-nsf.h...
NIH: grant-watch.us/submit-nih.h...
Our trackers are actively used in lawsuits and are often the only record that terminations ever occurred.
NEW: The Great Lakes hold 95% of all the surface freshwater in the United States.
Severe cuts have decimated the NOAA Great Lakes lab.
Scientists worry theyβve lost the ability to protect the public from toxic algal blooms, which can kill animals and sicken people.
My story for @propublica.org
Even accepting the premise that AI produces useful writing (which no one should), using AI in education is like using a forklift at the gym. The weights do not actually need to be moved from place to place. That is not the work. The work is what happens within you.

It's finally out! www.science.org/doi/10.1126/... I'll do a thread soon, but wanted to share Ricardo's paper from @science.org Advances asap. Has some of the coolest images of my career & fun collaborations π¬
Weβre supposed to just take Elonβs word that heβs found βmassiveβ fraud in federal systems he took over? The same guy they found committing fraud on his fellow gamers?
I spoke to a talented junior scientist who just got a good faculty job offer in the US and they told me βwell I wouldnβt move to 1930s Germany eitherβ so thatβs how thatβs going
I think some people hear βgrantsβ and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service.
βPausingβ grants means people donβt eat.
Me too!
It's been an incredibly exciting week! It's surreal to see my name in this cohort of #PECASE awardees. I'm so honored and so proud of our students, postdocs, and collaborators that continue to make this research a reality π₯Ή
