I think, in the end, there's a lot more to this move than attendance. I'm not sure that was a driving factor in the decision. It gives their expanded building a primary tenant to fill dates and keep people at the rink longer. Even if it's only a few hundred. Lots of ways to make money there.
Not many people were going to Fox Valley, either. The way I see it is that the market is never really going to get on board with junior hockey en masse. The building gets a primary tenant to fill dates and sell some concessions. If they get close to what they got in Geneva, it's a win.
After 25 years in the suburbs, the USHL's Chicago Steel are moving downtown as the Blackhawks expand Fifth Third Arena. More info on the intriguing move: www.flohockey.tv/articles/142...
ECHL Kelly Cup Finals start tonight. Is this the year the Toledo Walleye finally get over the hump and win the dang thing? www.flohockey.tv/articles/142...
It was a fairly seismic day in this new world of CHL players being eligible for the NCAA. North Dakota landed two high-end NHL Draft prospects on the same day from the same team in Cole Reschny and Keaton Verhoeff. Why these commits are making such big waves: www.flohockey.tv/articles/142...
I think it's a little too new. Harvard, obviously has some serious concerns given how that school has been targeted. It's something everyone is staying fairly aware of, but it has not paused the efforts to pursue players who will require visas. Definitely something tha tis being monitored.
I used to run from doing player comps for the NHL Draft, and I still don't really love doing it, but you just have to give the people what they want. That's what @hockeyrobinson.bsky.social and I did this week on Called Up: The Prospects Podcast youtu.be/nZtMq5oTKtQ

USA Hockey is staring down history. With a chance to win its first gold medal at the IIHF Men's World Championship in 92 years, here's why it matters for the future: www.flohockey.tv/articles/142...
Indeed they are
You figured it would happen eventually, but itβs never seemed to work out over the entire course of my lifetimeβ¦ or my dadβs. USA will play for a gold medal at the IIHF Menβs World Championship.
I think that's appropriate at this juncture.
Been thinkin' about it. If you're here, then I probably should.
Furthermore, the U.S. hasn't won a silver medal since 1950 in the event. Now 20 minutes way from at least their best finish at a Men's World Championship in 75 years.
With Twitter down, it is my civic duty to inform you that USA is up 4-0 on host Sweden in the semifinals at the Men's World Championship -- a tournament the United States has not won since 1933.
They can't make a huge jump, but the committee could still potentially place them there if they feel it can be done without diminishing bracket integrity. They'll make some decisions based on attendance benefits if it fits.

USA up 2-0 on Germany after 1. Goals from James Hagens (2025) and Gabe Perreault (NYR). USA's defense looked pretty shaky throughout the period with some rough plays in transition. Could be first-game jitters, but also seemed like the weakest point of the team coming in.
If you want to keep up with USA's line combinations at the World Juniors, I'll be updating this file each game. www.flohockey.tv/articles/133...
