We are excited to announce that registration is open for the 2026 Neural Mechanisms of Acoustic Communication Gordon Research Conference. The preliminary program is now live: www.grc.org/neural-mecha...
We invite everyone to apply! See you @ Sunday River, Maine, May 31-June 5, 2026.
We are very happy to announce that we have been able to completely cover ALL registration fees for EVERY attendee of the NMAC GRS this year. 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you to GRC chairs Mala and Marc for their major help in making this possible!
It's time to pass the torch to our 2026 GRS co-chairs: the Bluesky-less Rebecca Hill and Katherine Anderson! We're so excited to see what the next meeting will bring 🥳🥳🥳
We, Diana (@daliao.bsky.social) and Nick (@nickjourjine.bsky.social) have enjoyed organizing the GRS, meeting all you amazing scientists, coordinating w/ the fantastic GRC chairs (Marc Schmidt, Mala Murthy, Alison Barker, Vikram Gadagkar), & running this account!
Here is a link to the GitHub repository with all the notebooks for our Acoustic Analysis and Bioacoustics Bootcamp (ACABB), plus associated slides, and resources with links. Thank you @tessarhinehart.bsky.social and @nicholdav.bsky.social for a sensational job!

⌛️⌛️Final days to apply for the Neural Mechanisms of Acoustic Communication GRC & GRS!
& don't forget to register!
Check out our fantastic program & apply here: grc.org/neural-mechani…
Additional speakers will be chosen quickly after the deadline so get those abstracts in 🥳🥳
⏰Deadline to submit abstracts to the 2024 Neural Mechinisms of Acoustic Communication GRC is this Sunday, April 21st!⏰
We're super excited to be putting finishing touches on the conference & look forward to an excellent lineup of speakers. 🎤
We’ll see you in Maine!☀️🌊🌲🗣️
We know gordon conferences are expensive! We're working hard finalizing a budget to help w/ travel & registration costs, especially for early-career researchers.
And don’t forget you can choose a shared room when registering- that will save you💰& lead to some new colleagues!
We are at a different venue this year: the Jordan Hotel at Sunday River in Maine! Sandwiched between scientific activities, afternoons are free for hiking, kayaking, and more. 🥾🛶🌲
10 days left to apply for the Neural Mechanisms of Acoustic Communication GRS & GRC!⌛️
Come share your research w/ other scientists working on diverse questions & animals! 🐒🪰🦇🐁🐤🐸🥳
Here's the program: grc.org/neural-mechani… & if you've applied, don’t forget to register!
⏰ Last day to submit abstracts to be considered for a speaker slot at the Gordon Research **Seminar** for the Neural Mechanisms of Acoustic Communication!
We're excited to see all the exciting work submitted and will inform speakers next week on April 8th!
🎤 Deadline to be considered as a speaker at the Neural Mechanisms of Acoustic Communication **GRS** is March 31st.
That's this Sunday, so grad students and postdocs - time to get your abstracts in!

📢1 month left for abstract submission!
This year, the Neural Mechanisms for Acoustic Comm. GRC has 23 open speaker slots to be selected from submitted abstracts. 🎙️
From our fundraising efforts, we can defray registration and partial travel costs so apply & spread the word!
Additionally, we will walk through a workflow for organizing raw acoustic data, vocal segmentation, feature extraction, and call classification using the latest machine-learning methods! We hope to see you there! 🥳🥳🥳 3/3
This hands-on workshop will discuss bioacoustic analyses from the perspectives of recording animals in the lab and in the wild, the ecosystem of tools, and how to choose the appropriate tool for your research question. 🧰🔭🗜️🪛✂️🔊🖥️🎤❓🐦⬛🐭🐒🐍🪰🦇🐦 2/3
📢 Grad students and postdocs!
🚨 Please apply for the Neural Mechanisms of Acoustic Communication Gordon Research *Seminar* by April 20th.
We are excited to announce this GRS will feature a mini-bootcamp on Bioacoustics led by the fantastic @tessarhinehart.bsky.social & @nicholdav.bsky.social 1/3
The NMAC GRS is a two-day meeting (May 18-19) before the GRC just for early-career researchers! All talks will be selected from submitted abstracts. We're modifying deadlines so excuse any confusion. To be considered for a talk, please submit an abstract before March 31, 2024!
There seems to be two meetings: what's the deal?
The NMAC GRC is the main conference for scientists from all career stages on May 19-24, 2024 at Sunday River, Maine.
The preliminary program can be found here (grc.org/neural-mechani…); the deadline for applications is April 21.
We're securing funding to offset registration, travel & childcare particularly for early-career scientists & underrepresented groups. Reach out for financial assistance & we hope to see you there!
