Anyone with experience drafting messaging / political resolutions willing to beta read something for me?
There Have Been No Approvals for New Transit Projects in the First Year of the Current Trump Administration
For the 1st time in the 1st year of a presidential administration since at least 1993, under Trump 2, the Federal Transit Administration signed 0 new contracts for major transit projects, like subways or light rail.
The US is facing a crisis of rail transit investment: www.urban.org/urban-wire/r...
After months of wrestling with the treadmill’s janky touchscreen while running to manually do intervals… just discovered the “build a workout” button does it all automatically 😭
Anyone have a friend in San Diego, US Citizen, above the age of 25? Rep. Vargas (D-CA) voted against the War Powers Resolution (i.e. in favor of the war)... and as far as I can tell, isn't yet facing a primary challenger. Filing deadline's tomorrow.
I know the term from Civ & Stellaris — both of which are soundly "nerd games". (A friend called them "menu simulators".)
“Asked whether Americans should be worried about retaliatory attacks at home, Trump acknowledges the possibility. ‘I guess,’ he says.”
This Employee Appreciation Day specially dedicated to: all the DHS employees who don't have to put up with Noem anymore

IIRC their solution was to reach agreements where major AI companies would *pay* for programmatic access to Wikipedia data as compensation for the load & lost traffic.
I went to a talk at State of the Net this year where Wikipedia said that this was one of the core threats they're facing this year: AI harvesting their data and then preventing people from clicking through / seeing donate links.
(+ AI data gathering is very resource intensive / expensive)
Obligatory drop of the no-nonsense Google cheat code: udm14.com
(+ I think they have extensions for major browsers to use it automatically, too!)
Fun fact is that I have a duct-tape art piece a fellow Rice alumn made of the old “snake tail” TX-02 design
Crazy progression for TX-02 going from archconservative Poe to even more conservative Crenshaw to even more conservative Toth.
… sorry, did I say “conservative”? In this case I mean “crazy”.
I’ve been interested in Texas politics for a while now (especially at the state legislative level). Have been aware of the baleful presence of Steve Toth for most of that time.
Only just today discovering that he pronounces his name with a long “o”.
These in particular are supposed to be the extra dimensional invaders (so it makes sense they’d be weird), but I see your point.

Hate when I accidentally flashbang an innocent woodlands creature 😭
Scariest moment of when I worked as Nature Director at a Scouting camp was when a bunch of really excited 17-year-olds caught a big, mean turtle in a trash can... and brought it into my Nature Center. I had to talk them down from releasing it right outside when I told them we didn't want it. 😂
Peace in our time. No war in Iran. 🕊️🕊️🕊️
We're all Links in the Big Gear Chain
if computer problems took down the bay bridge toll gates for 10-20 minutes drivers would riot and caltrans and politicians would hold press conferences throwing millions at new upgrades
but when it happens on @bart.gov its a normal day on a degrading underfunded and understaffed system
A crowd of people standing next to a train platform
BART just lost the ability to bring people across the bay. Kicked everyone off and left during morning rush hour. Not great!
One more piece of info: unsuccessfully ran for RNC Delegate in 2016

we’re out here
Funny how people come back around in life! Recently found out that an old college acquaintance (from our school in Texas) serves on a YDA caucus with a new friend (from an org in California).
Results of Delegate election results. The top 3 were selected as Delegates and the next 3 were Alternates. Gerry Chandler came in 15th out of 16, and was selected as neither.
Ope, I didn't click through the old-school pagination — he placed second-to-last and was not selected as Delegate.
