I'm not saying that gen AI necessarily falls into this category, but history is full of things that were "useful" but which we now find to be terrible and a moral stain on those who used them.
At some point in the past I'm sure I was interested in whatever the new thing was and not just pre-emptively irritated at having to fix what the update breaks, and find the new locations where they've hidden the off-switches for irritating features that have been defaulted back to "on"
