I avoid curse words and always do "fade to black" for sex scenes in cozy mysteries I write. However, question for those who enjoy the genre, if the word "dumbass" was used by a character once in a book, would you feel it broke conventions?

Just woke suddenly from a dream where I was at Jennifer Lawrence’s house and she served me a delicious ice cream sundae that my spoon kept sinking into. That’s the closest I’ve come to a sex dream about a woman.
I sat on the corner of the bed and the frame creaked and all I could think was if the bed somehow broke and the leg went up my ass, there’s no way the ER doctor would believe it was an accident.
A little treat every now and then is nice, but I truly believe homemade coffee is far superior (and obviously cheaper) than almost anything from a shop.
To be fair, it is one of my lesser known books that’s not for everyone. 🤣

My favorite book of all time has an adolescent planning suicide throughout and a character gets plowed down by a car just as they start to live their best life.
