Amazing! I concur with everything above - it's genuinely a piece of magic. Every page is so rich and dense with incredible imagery and language, but it still feels so light and misty. I adore it.

Ah class, it is so brilliant! One I'll reread again and again.
Always enjoyable putting together The Fortnightly.
No 154. Interesting books - Ros Atkins, Martha Dickinson Bianchi; & interesting ideas - cognitive science, navigating the teenage years, school leadership. Plus W.H. Auden, the INOTE English teachers' conference etc.

O Caledonia by Elspeth Barker might be one of the best novels I've read. Bit like 'We Have Always Lived in the Castle', but edgier. One of the great opening paragraphs, which my 6th years really loved too. An incredible Backlisted @iammilliam.bsky.social recommendation @sccenglish.bsky.social
