At the end, we are talking about an adaptation to new battlefield and geopolitical realities.
That is a messy process, and it will be riddled with error and futile attempts.
But there is no way around it. Whant to stay dependent on 🇺🇸 security and 🇨🇳 manufacturing? Guess no.
A 🇩🇪 demand is supply chain security, that drives prices considerably.
Some of the German drones are already 🇨🇳free, others have to become 🇨🇳free in a couple of years.
🇺🇦 don't care for that, they take every component that works for them (understandably).
For the 🇩🇪 government, there is an industrial dimension as well. They don't want to be dependent on foreign suppliers, so they sponsor their industry.
In order for their industry to stay competitive, they have to go to 🇺🇦.
Helsing provides high end, AI supported loitering munitions. They all struggle to convey test results into combat results.
A time ago a 🇺🇦 engeneer told me, Russians were smart to go with the simples solution (fibre optic) instead of frustrating research on AI. It is a painful learning pricess.
Well, this is too simle. Yes, buying/supporting 🇺🇦 innovators is smart. But that is what Helsing/Stark et al do. This is how they entered the UA market.
It is not that easy however, as 🇺🇦 enterprises struggle as well in some fields.
I don't think Germany will own the drone market, there other nations in the game too. But experiences from 🇺🇦 will help 🇩🇪 to catch up, substitute and replace 🇺🇸 capabilities (esp. ISR) at much cheaper price and more efficiently.
But in 🇩🇪 still a lot TBD on how to harness the fruits of all of this.

Gestern auf Welt-TV zu den 🇫🇷🇩🇪 Gesprächen über ☢️ Abschreckung. Beide kommen aus sehr unterschiedlichen strategischen Kulturen, das wiegt schwerer als die Zahl der Gefechtsköpfe. Dennoch macht es Sinn zu sondieren, wo man kooperieren könnte.
