during the oil/gas crisis caused by Russia's invasion of Ukraime it was striking how some right-wingers tried to gaslight the public into believing the *biggest* problem with their soaring bills (at the time) was green levies rather than the oil/gas price going through the roof

Israel has killed tens of thousands of Palestinian women and girls in its genocidal war on Gaza.
On International Women's Day, we look at the number of women and girls Israel killed in Gaza in 2025.

Today the United States wasted another #1B on an illegal war in Iran, money that could have been spent on funding health care or providing SNAP benefits or cancer research or academic scholarships for minorities. I could go on and on but I think you get my point. #endtheiranwarnow

It takes real galaxy brains to mass cancel solar and wind projects and then start a pointless unpopular war that sends oil prices soaring.

A little reported fact is that the Iranian frigate destroyed 2000 miles from the combat zone was carrying ZERO AMMUNITION (a condition of the exercise it was invited to participate in).
The ship was, by any definition, defenceless.
Much like the 80+ sailors left to drown.
Infamy.

At the other end of the country a friend doing nature photography in the Cairngorms snapped some crested tits. With his permission I used a photo to draw this crested tit #colouredpencil on #pastelmat. Before we left I recall blue tits & coal tits in our wee garden

Great to tax gas exports more (contracts written under Howard I gather & of course when Rudd tried to increase mining taxes we saw what happened). I think Chinaโs doing a lot in renewables (more strategic & planned than many others eg US) but I guess the demand is huge. Tricky being a politician

He can now the new EPBC is in. Which are new mines & which are extensions? Itโs all for export. Power stations are decreased here. Metallurgical coal goes to steel making. There are some nuances here that I find challenging

Or donโt gain it. I voted for Shorten and in the UK Iโd have voted for Corbyn. But there we go. Voters donโt reward vision and the UK is also stuck with a Labour government that is โdisappointingโ everyone & the Far Right are absolutely delighted to put the boot in

Investment in green metals, critical minerals, EV policies etc seem for policy wonks. Support for 135,000+ home batteries & community solar banks donโt affect me. reform of EPBC took too long. It never feels visionary. I was also surprised by sticking with AUKUS & so building UK subs here.

I agree climate stuff has seemed piecemeal & targets never seem to impress voters eg for net zero & 82%renewable elec by 2030. 20 billion to modernize electricity grid to support increased renewable capacity seems technocratic. Emission limits๐คทโโ๏ธ bit vague

Iโm really disappointed he hasnโt achieved my high expectations quickly enough. Iโm disappointed he hasnโt been good at communicating what they have achieved. Iโm disappointed his lack of strong man charisma means he doesnโt appeal to voters like populists do.

Israel has been continuously bombing Lebanon almost every day for over a year. Anyone who tells you โHezbollah broke the ceasefireโ is either lying to you, or is just so incredibly biased that their brain genuinely doesnโt register Israeli bombings of Lebanon as ceasefire violations.
