Amazing. NYT has more confirmation that Trump's decision to bomb Iran was motivated in large part by the way the Israeli strikes were "playing" on Fox News, which drove him to want credit for it

Starmer confirms in PMQs that the government will be looking at βthe thresholdβ on winter fuel payments βas part of the next fiscal event.β
Sir, Any confirmation I required that Sir Keir Starmer's Brexit reset deal was a positive step was provided by the sour response of Kemi Badenoch, a characteristically infantile comment from Boris Johnson, and the unhinged headlines in certain tabloids. Marc Starling Roydon, Norfolk
Bob Maddams: The prime minister's reset is an important step in the right direction. If it goes well in practice further renegotiations will surely follow that work in the economic interests of both the UK and our European neighbours. So just for once it would be pleasing if the Tories and other opposition parties responded positively to a government initiative that acts in the best interests of the country at large, instead of reacting with kneejerk critical comments about "betraying" the electorate. The only betrayal that took place in 2016, and subsequently, was the one perpetrated by Boris Johnson, who placed personal ambition and political capital above the interests of the British people. Kemi Badenoch would do well to remember this and for once ignore the Tory grandees and get behind a process that will be good for Britain. Moreover, distancing herself from the mess the Tories made of Brexit can only be to her advantage.
The Brexit mood music has changed. You canβt wang on about sovereignty and fish any more and expect people to care. Trade deals arenβt massively convincing either. People just donβt want hassle and higher bills. Thatβs all Brexit actually delivered. Weβre very tired of the failure.

Baby boomers, like me, didn't have material trinkets but we had hope, a free education, secure employment and affordable housing.
Generation Z have none of these, little wonder they suffer from anxiety and depression.
Oh hello Andrew Neill? Canβt have been a midlife crisis (too
old) so have you been held hostage, in a coma, a symptom of Long Covid?
I really want Bluesky to work for me and I get I curated my Twitter feed over years BUT BS seems so slow for me, behind news time often - any clues on getting the algorithm working better?
Dear Volodymyr Zelenskyy, dear Ukrainian friends, you are not alone.
To be clear, I believe that the US should be thanking Zelenskyy and Ukraine for standing up and defending freedom. Theyβre the ones bearing this burden in lives and disruption. Itβs only the small and insecure who think they should be thanking us.
No-one could imagine Trump speaking to Putin like that. Which is one of the reasons that just happened.
Bloody hell - stooges or overtired toddlers ? so worrying ( but fully expected) #whitehouse #Trump #vance #ukraine
yes
Merz just said on German TV that the primary priority of his government will be to ensure that Europe can achieve full strategic independence from the United States in the defence against Russia.
Merz was once a die hard Atlanicist. Now, after Trump he is a Gaullist.
Extraordinary.
President Zelenskyy has been one of the greatest leaders of our time, guiding Ukraine through the darkest period of its recent history, rising up to Russiaβs unwarranted aggression, being an inspiration to the Ukrainian people and ensuring that Ukraineβs voice is heard on the world stage.
Ooooops. Another big Trump, Kennedy and Musk screw-up...
USDA accidentally fired officials working on bird flu and is now trying to rehire them..
An Agriculture Department spokesperson told NBC News that officials are "working to swiftly rectify the situation."

A Trump shill on Newsnight claims there are more people in prison in UK jails for freedom of speech violations than in Putinβs Russia.
These people are radicalised, insane, plain stupid or some combination of all three.
A modest claim from a party that couldn't fix potholes or train dentists.
A welcome antidote to the xenophobic nonsense about "low-wage" migrant workers that floods the opinion pages of the Telegraph and Times.

It won't capture the headlines but Labour has met its pledge for 2m extra hospital appointments.
A close relation is having cataracts treated 5 days after diagnosis.
Unsexy but important stuff.
John Major is on R4 now being very critical of the Trump administration, which he calls very different to any US presidency he has seen. Major says JD Vance's speech in Munich was "not statesmanship" and it is odd to lecture about free speech while "cuddling Mr Putin".
In this new world, if you're not around the table, you're on the menu.
If China, Russia, US are allowed to decide Europe's future, our future won't be ours.

They need to get on with it, but like Heseltine wanted the Brexiteers to be in charge mucking up implementing their unplanned Brexit - it wonβt be without casualties :(
βSweet moderation, heart of this Nationβ I loved this album but itβs beginning to look like we have bigger asks than just βa living wage, cradle to graveβ of our Government now in the face of the Global pressure.
It's like we all live at Four Seasons Total Landscaping now.
It's been a long time since Private Eye's satire has made me audibly wince, but this is so to the point if it were a knife people would demand it be banned.
With everything going on and what seems to be a brewing concerted effort to influence our Country the #BBC needs to finance, hire and up its news and investigative game. Except influence has been happening at BBC too?
