This week on @diehardoab.bsky.social we were joined by our great friend & supporter of the show @jasondashbailey.com (author of Fun City Cinema, Gandolfini, and the forth-coming Die Hard book!) to discuss Tony Scott's THE TAKING OF PELHAM 123. pod.link/1658664345/e...
Every trans person who refuses to shrink their identity to fit the room is expanding the world for everyone else.
I have never really listened to Metallica that closely, so this encouraged me to go back and listen, and yea, fuck, this rocks.
You inspired me to rewatch this one this week.
Telling the Girl Scouts I don't want cookies but am interested in any merch.
"The Islamists oppose women getting an education," I mutter, as I aim my missile at the girls school

When four new murals popped up in @samjleeds.bsky.socialβs neighborhood they started wondering, why does it seem like Henry is EVERYWHERE now? Sam and @janehu.bsky.social spoke with @geisers.bsky.social to learn the ins and outs of public art and what the deal is with all the Henry in Seattle.
underrated aspect of this: some kids might get to see special features about how movies are made

Glenn Powell isn't a movie star. I like him a lot, but he isn't!
the right really hates it when you call their planned concentration camps "concentration camps." their whole program works only if you make migrants into a scary mass of undocumented criminals coming for white families. its a lot harder when you humanize it. keep it up.

I reviewed SINGLES as part of my work for @citycastseattle.bsky.social and we shot outside the actual apartment complex fun!
Excited that @citycastseattle.bsky.social is starting our βSeattle According Toβ series. It will show Seattle through the eyes of the people who feel deeply rooted in our city. And who better to kick it off than Cynthia Brothers of Vanishing Seattle? seattle.citycast.fm/guides/seatt...
I think this is one of the worst studio movies of the last decade. Someone described it as 'watching tiktoks on instagram two weeks after they peaked,' and it's such a good clear criticism.
Someone saw me on a TIKOK and:
Yea I thought of Last Duel as well.
Bleak, not bleach.
I found it very brutally effective and like pretty bleach in a powerful way, but I don't know about Best episode of television like can't we just watch things and enjoy them and not need to immediately quantify as well
Not badly done, just deeply unnecessary.
That said, that flashback stunk.
Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms Ep.5 is the sort of things TV really excels at now, for better or worse - a perfectly placed flashback surrounded by incredibly photographed violence and an ending that both shocked me and made me want the next episode immediately.
There's a We Bought A Zoo joke from me in tomorrow's @citycastseattle.bsky.social newsletter and it made me remember this amazing twitter thread. @janehu.bsky.social - read from the beginning to the end. x.com/WEBOUGHTAZ00
