Final day of the conference is always bittersweet. We've learned so much, met great people, and had a wonderful time in the process. Today, I'm speaking about vendor a11y conversations after the April ADA deadline. #ERL26

A 4-panel comic. There was a small book fair at my oldest daughter Margot's elementary school. As I browse the books laid out on the tables, I find some of the kids' books I illustrated. Thinking to myself that it's cool they are there, a kid I don't know shows up and grabs one of my books and says "HEY DAD! We can finally get Margot's mom's books!" My daughter arrives and starts suggesting my books to her friends-- "If you buy these, my mom can draw in them for you!" So I end up sitting at one of the tables, signing books for the other parents, thinking "How did this happen...?"

On the website, but on a browser I don't normally use. I don't usually access Bsky on my work computer, but since I'm attending a conference, I'm getting more annoyances that I usually have blocked in different ways.

I'll be less annoyed after Wednesday once I get back to my preferred methods.

There seems to be this notion in publishing that making a comic is the same as making an illustrated kids’ book, and it will send me to an early grave.

I have a very curated timeline (I have a special feed for regular use and then a few others for branching out on days I want more), but this was a popup in the feeds area with a list of trends. You can close the popup, but I just want my social media to quit trying to push things in my face. :/

No, Bluesky, I do not want to see any trending topics. I want to mediate my own feed and not be reminded of other things that aren't at mind at this moment.

I keep getting the hashtag for my current conference wrong, appending 25 instead of 26.

I am in denial that we're in 2026, y'all.

I am constantly fascinated by the amount of labor people will undertake to avoid actually reading papers.

I agree, and I hate it.

Bluesky's default view for a hashtag is "Top," and every time I refresh the hashtag page I have to click back into "New." There's not even an ID attribute I can reference to force it back to the tab I want.

I wonder how they think we use hashtags.

I'm at a conference until Thursday, so I've got time to see the experiment out!
