This is one of the most reasoned & persuasive arguments for not allowing LLMs anywhere near reading & writing intensive classrooms. We can 100% choose not to outsource our reading & writing labor to a bot, and model for our students why they should do the same. #EduSky

Great thread. The article is part of a trend: initial enthusiasts realising that the GenAI critics were correct after all, now doing mental gymnastics to convince themselves they can still be enthusiastic.

Watch out though, because uploading your own text to a commercial GenAI tool very likely means it will be used for LLM training

I’ve read it twice now and still can’t find a description of what those great use cases of genai are that will push society forward, supposedly ignored by the left. I found lots of rhetorical tricks though, like “ai skeptics = climate change deniers”. And “by critically engaging AI, you ignore AI” 🤔

Dan krijg je weer de aloude dynamiek waarbij je constateert dat “de door radicaal-rechts gecreëerde karikaturen overtrokken zijn”, maar ze alsnog tegemoet komt en daardoor hun standpunten normaliseert, het Overton window verschuift, etc. Kortom, de inmiddels kansloos gebleken strategie.

Deze passage stoort mij nog meer dan het selectief winkelen: Vanwege de “kwetsbare positie van de wetenschap” moeten we bang zijn voor het “schikbeeld van het repressieve beleid van Donald Trump in de VS”. Dus ons alvast preëmptief schikken naar extreem-rechts door rechtser te worden? Slecht idee…

Goed punt. Een nieuwe keuken of badkamer verdien je niet terug. Een nieuwe cv-ketel niet. Een nieuwe vloer niet. Etc. Maar bij zonnepanelen en thuisbatterijen is dat opeens een probleem 😅

Mee eens. Maar vibes zijn alleen doorslaggevend bij een gebrek aan een sterk ideologisch verhaal. Wilders en Trump hebben geen vibes nodig, die overtuigen met een nativistisch verhaal. Ook Mamdani brengt naast vibes ideologie. Met vibes win je een “veldslag”, met een ideologisch verhaal de “oorlog”.

Na het daverende succes van Milders, nu Beheerstmans?

Goed stuk. Mooie reportage. Die quote van Baudet is erg verontrustend trouwens. “Hij is gewoon de baas en ik denk ook niet dat daar ooit nog verkiezingen komen. En nee, dat is niet zo erg”….

Mooie aflevering weer! 1 puntje van kritiek: er wordt erg veel door elkaar heen gesproken. Uit enthousiasme denk ik, maar voor de luisteraar toch storend.
