Good news: Microcarb has successfully launched! π
Europeβs first carbon-monitoring satellite is now in orbit, marking a major step in tracking COβ emissions from space.

If you're interested in monitoring soil biodiversity, eDNA and regenerative agriculture, check out our new study below #soil #farming #nature #science
While stakeholders discussed how livestock production may be a poor proxy for food quality or farm business viability, there was concern among all groups about the impact on upland birds.
We find that increasing tree cover results in positive outcomes for GHG emissions, water-run off, recreation, woodland birds & timber. But we do identify trade-offs with negative outcomes on livestock and upland birds.
We use a combination of Participatory Scenario Planning and spatially-explicit land-use scenarios to predict the consequences on biodiversity and ecosystem services in two upland landscapes: the North Pennines & Dales (England) and the Elenydd (Wales)
Our #interdisciplinary paper investigating the synergies and trade-offs of upland treescape expansion is now out in @peopleandnature.bsky.social which is part of the STAND @uktreescapes.bsky.social project led by the @rspb.bsky.social
