It was satisfying to tell Kevin Connor that and I was thrilled that he liked the piece. Felt like a circle completing!

The Land That Time Forgot was a formative cinema trip for me at the age of six - and a movie I still adore. So it was a treat to track down director Kevin Connor for a chat about dinosaurs and Doug McClure, all in the latest @sfxmagazine.bsky.social… issue 400, no less!

Something about that blue reminds me of the filter they would use to try and disguise day-for-night shooting in old films and TV. I always loved that slightly unearthly quality!

I remember chancing across a battered copy of this while staying at a cottage in Dorset and experiencing a little shudder at the cover! It must have inspired Burton for Edward Scissorhands.

Ha, I was such a Bowie nut the price didn’t even factor in for me! Looking back it seems exceptional value… Trying to remember what I paid to see him on the Glass Spider tour. Maybe Β£12?

The concert ended with Moonage Daydream. Bowie broke out his old β€œSpace Hopper” mime and Ziggy was resurrected in front of us. I remember him grinning as he did this; he was clearly having fun.

I remember the shadow he cast on the wall, which seemed to distil the very essence of Bowie. I was convinced it was going to break free, like Peter Pan’s.

30 years ago tonight, Bowie in Cardiff - the greatest gig of my life. Front row, pressed against the security barrier, close enough to see his mismatched eyes.

It's exceptionally good. I treated myself to a story a day and every one's a gem. Such a beautiful package of a book, too.

As a '70s kid The New Avengers was my gateway into the world of Steed & Co. Wonderful to see the effort that's gone into these stunning new restorations - a vivid new life for the series.

Van Helsing needs to be attached to a curtain rod, for sudden, climactic floods of daylight.
