I'm back what did I miss
I'm back what did I miss
Yes definitely!

We're sending as many people from the UK as possible to try and push them into picking Swedish.
almost looks like a UK artist announcement graphic for a weird alternative universe Eurovision 2003 where Latvia took the branding in an even stranger direction to the one they chose
This NF season? Always the replacement bus service.
I don't always remember to crosspost everything to Bsky but a train timetable observation feels like a Bsky post, this is the right demographic
kinda obsessed with the weirdly specific timings for Eurosong starting and finishing, feeling like I'm about to catch a train watching this
perhaps misremembering but supposedly this entry was turned down in favour of recreating our 2009 NF format of getting a famous songwriter, TSGTM flopping and knowing what we could have had with a bigger performer in 2010 is supposedly what led to our 2011-2013 efforts too.
I know why I wouldn't be here but why wouldn't you??
Still not sure about that bridge 2 minutes in
but apart from that, if they'd dragged the spinning piano to Oslo we'd have been looking at Top 5 for the second year in a row. Supposedly.
On today of all days, I felt like revisiting what is (supposedly) the biggest missed opportunity the UK ever had at Eurovision. 2010 didn't know what would have hit it.

I hate that guy!
What I've learned is that I could have completely ignored all my television/music industry/BBC sources for the last month and just pushed the random thought I threw out there on Bluesky whilst stuck in Christmas mode, and been exactly on the money.
The life of a UK Eurofan.
so I was on the money, but exclusively on Bsky, and long before all of this mess? ๐ญ
controversially I recommend the Belgian NF that starts a little earlier if you want something with a little more... quality. This is not the same BF we had from 2022-24.
all very samey and it sadly means a somewhat mediocre ballad is probably going to come through when Spanish music literally has the ingredients to win every year if they wanted to.
easily the weakest year since it's been called BF, they dropped the HoD from 2022-24 and there's nothing really close to the quality in those years
okay sure maybe it's a trade in individuality. BUT it is absolutely a loss in that it's yet another of ESC's silly little traditions giving way to something more formal. It's that each host city had to make a *key* and put their creativity into that confined goofy tradition. That's the loss.
so the thing is whilst some of the cities didn't care about the insignia (Turin) and some cared a lot (Liverpool), it's still a bit of tradition and personality that the host city can no longer inject. Eurovision going forwards is very template and style guide-y and it feels like a loss.
I like this Swiss host, he's kinda budget Rylan with his little facts and tenuously connecting the country drawn to Switzerland via fondue or something
already preparing my "well you see it's like the fa cup draw" response
best words I got as a eurofan 10 minutes before the allocation draw was "we're cutting the meeting short"
"not giving specifics"! it'll be here before you know it.
And for those still asking "WHEN?", yes I know why it got delayed and for how long, no I'm not giving specifics anymore, but it will be going down very soon. We'll all find out together, the way it should be (with every UK fan panicking and losing their mind)
That false alarm UK press release has reminded me to thank a LOT of you for checking in with me after that Traitors mess on Friday night. I was fine, almost everyone was chill and forgiving about it, and it's a good reminder that the BBC are both ambitious and *messy*
it was a WatchMojo video of all things that taught me that Telex (Belgium 1980) appeared on Top of the Pops in the UK a few years before

the exact audience I had in mind for that post, haha.
choosing to assume the Bardo who produced for July Jones at EMA are the UK 1982 act and not someone else
