A triumphant story of improving protein levels in early-mid 20c diets and the resultant leaps for in utero foetus development.

Potentially a non trivial effect due to the increase in national minimum wage during the same period of time.

Security led sovereignty procurement is a real challenge if you have to get into component supply chains etc. I mean it is there for a reason in some domains, but risks becoming a real drag on efficiency. Security, as ever, is a trade off.

Also, given current ICE activity looking to be a a dry run for massive voter suppression/Disruption in November, that could well remain the case post mid terms.

Yes that's a fair way of framing it. I have always favoured forms of PR though reluctantly accepted that FPTP keeps the fash out. That has now been utterly disproven in US and so politics needs to lean into the new reality and accept plurality.

Politics is transactionality writ large (macrotransactionality?) Population developing emotional relationships with a single party is part of the problem and is forcing a chaotic, rather than planned drift towards more PR based solutions.

3-panel comic. (1) [Three small arthropods on ocean floor.] ARTHROPOD 1: Now that we’re multicellular, what are your plans? I’m gonna evolve little legs and swim around with them! ARTHROPOD 2: I’m gonna evolve sharp pincers and use them to crunch stuff! ARTHROPOD 3: I’m gonna evolve glands to make string from my butt and use it to construct elaborate geometric nets hundreds of times my size to catch other animals. (2) [Silence] (3) ARTHROPOD 1: *Dude.* ARTHROPOD 2: Can you *please* just be normal about this? ARTHROPOD 3: *What??!*

It's unreal. And despite Bamburgh and Alnwick being a little on the map the coatsline is still relatively under the radar compared to Lakes etc. Enjoy!

Having an apocalypse proof boat is so deeply unchristian in so many different dimensions it is laughable.

Love the bleak Northumberland coastline. I have a deal with myself that whenever I walk by the sea there I swim in it. That deal might be tested a little today.

🧡 @jburnmurdoch.ft.com is spot on about the conditions in his FT piece. Liberal democracy held it together thanks to growth, good demographics, and the promise of a better future. Those days are gone, and that’s the "why" behind the erosion. However...

In fairness, prior to the Ukraine invasion Russia could have transported oil without the need for a shadow fleet.

Very well put. The European project is antithetical to the 'Donroe' doctrine. Hence why he's leaning hard into Greenland.
