After 9 yeareals, it's finally my turn to post the "a thousand cereals" clip, seeing as how I'm the idiot who made it.
After 9 yeareals, it's finally my turn to post the "a thousand cereals" clip, seeing as how I'm the idiot who made it.
Furthest I've been:
North: Gympie, Queensland
East: Tweet Heads, NSW
South: Apollo Bay, Victoria
West: Glenelg, SA
A bunch of microsoft logos from the 70s, 80s, 90s and today but instead of saying Microsoft all of them spell Microslop in the vibe of the original logos.
It's fascinating to see the changes in one company's logo over the years.
A side-on shot of a diesel suburban train departing the far side of an adjacent platform at a terminal station in a city location. The train, which is painted in an Indian red livery, is formed of two single-ended 300-class Redhen diesel railcars with a passenger carriage marshalled in between. Most of the sliding side-doors on the railcars and the carriage are open. In the lower foreground are a number of broad gauge tracks between the platform from which I took this photo and the adjacent platform. In the background, on high ground above the far side of the tracks are some medium-rise city buildings beneath a blue sky with one mid-century 4 or 5 storey commercial building with a large West End BEER neon ad on its roof, and at right is a Gothic revival style stone church with spire.
Today's historic pic: An 860 class trailer car and a pair of Redhen diesel railcars with no 341 at left, depart Adelaide station, April 10 1985.
I have featured Redhen railcars previously in this series, but not really their faithful companion 860 class carriages, so let's remedy that right now.
If you're not trans, I don't think I can fully explain how important this is.
It's so powerful that one of the most circulated science media publications in the world has come out and said "trans children are real and providing transition care improves their lives." That's groundbreaking.
Interior train sign saying Belgrave Train
Train at Caulfield station displaying destination Belgrave
Train is lost. Thinks itβs going to Belgrave via the Frankston line. #Melbourne
Cronulla is such an odd terminus station
Good morning
Good morning
Very important announcement:
I have officially joined the club (several years late still) and acquired a full dslr for the first time.
Letβs go shooting!
The clock is ticking...
nah, just one I borrowed from the grandparents for the time being.
Incredibly proud of some of my shots today
Absolute stupidity, I got no other words for it!!
Cold take: I think Mansfield and the surrounding area should be transformed into a medium-density city of 1-2 million with the rail link to Melbourne closed in 1978 reinstated, and a suburban heavy or light rail system to serve all the new suburbs that would develop in the area circled in yellow.
One thing that has surprised me; the sheer amount to glue and other things on the frame that accumulated over the years π₯΄
At least I now know itβs a lot better underneath.
And finally, new covers for the bases ππ
Several not so family-friendly words were spoken
Over 30 years ago, iirc Clifton Hill trains used platforms 15 and 16 (both dead-end), City Circle trains used platform 2 or 3 with the Burnley group using platforms 3 or 4 (and 6 for direct services)
It's more a case of Caulfield trains *can* use platform 1 but likely wouldn't do so except in rare circumstances.
anyway, time for country trains to return to platform 1 like the good ol' days before all the crossovers were idiotically rationalised to allow fed square to be built.
Useless infrastructure that hasn't been built part 1 of ?
Richmond Junction Flyover; taking the Burnley local and Burnley through lines over the Caulfield through and Caulfield local lines, leading to the Burnley group using Flinders Street platforms 6-10 and Caulfield lines using platforms 1-4.
Posting this without context
Only disappointment is the 15 minute frequencies on weekends, makes for a long wait if you happen to miss the tram :/
Visiting the capital over the weekend and I must say Iβm quite impressed by the trams here, very fast and punctual.
On this day 2 years ago (1st April 2023): Siemens 839M at the tail end of a Lilydale service via the Burnley underground loop at Flinders Street
I got up at 4 in the morning for this, it was worth it!!!
Genuinely thinking about rebranding at this point, βthetramspotterβ sorta doesnβt feel like myself and I need something more relevant than a nickname I applied to all my socials when I was 15
Geelong trains really should stop at Ardeer on weekends, itβs kinda ridiculous how a station in the middle of suburbia only gets a train every hour!!
Heck, even Little River gets a better service than Ardeer!!
