Jan De Bont's "Speed" holds up really well, with fantastic pacing & glorious movie star performances by Sandra Bullock, Keanu Reeves & Dennis Hopper. Smart visual storytelling. Case study in how to do action - clean, focused, no-frills and has a vivid sense of fun.

Uncompromising indie horror set within a family unit cult. Has a clear Todd Haynes "Safe" vibe with long takes and uncomfortable wide shots, a very thought through world, and a surprisingly good performance from Casper Van Dien. Smart script and a clear sense of direction.
