The Thames foot path lovely as it is, is not on my to-do list this year, but useful info anyway for anybody interested π³ for me it's Peddars Way or bust π
@keld16
Dane happily retired in the UK, keen hiker, covered large parts of South East England on foot, now a Thames Path Twicer having done the walk twice, planning for 2026, worked in automation, now plays with Python/MySQL coding
The Thames foot path lovely as it is, is not on my to-do list this year, but useful info anyway for anybody interested π³ for me it's Peddars Way or bust π
Further to the Peddars Way and the diversion @ River Thet some 40 minutes into my walk last Tuesday, this is the map recording, had to stop short in Watton as daylight is a factor this time of year, made worse by a 90 minute delay getting round this, I'll be back sureely π
To add, I did not have time to waste as lack of daylight around 17.30 waits for nobody, I'll be back @ a later date to progress on the Peddars Way
Sometimes the best planned hikes turn out different, yesterday on the glorious Peddars Way I was impeded by flooding on the river Thet, so I had to cut the adventure short in Watton and not Swaffham, what normally is a 5 minute walk on a nice boardwalk, turned into a 90 minutes detour through woodsπ
Great use of a drone
I trust that the Met Office's weather forecast for Norfolk this coming week is nothing but correct, don't change it, it suits my needs π
Off to Norfolk this coming week in search of a decent walk, Peddars Way it is, well 1st half of it, back later in the year for 2nd installment, no doubt I'll get curious about the coastal path that follows all the way to Cromer after Holme, oh such fun it is to be a hiker π’π’
My wife is keen on the concept of scone of the month with NT, but January did not score any points with her, of all ingredients Marmiteπ«’I tried it, never again, keep trying π€£
Can't praise HeidiSQL and Ansgar Becker enough, HeidiSQL has been a firm favorite in my toolbox for the last 5 years, just love it helping me in achieving new skills with MySQL π
I tried to tell Smarty this at the end of December, but customer service was more interested in my account details than what it really is, wording in your emails, felt like banging my head against nearest door, I despair π
Wondrous cloud patterns yesterday over Ashdown Forestπ€
As a Dane, sounds good to me, if you can counter sue US style, then you can counter buy Danish style π€£
Well spoken, using the correct terms
Tim, thanks for picking the correct facts from history, as a Dane I'm disgusted by this talk about Greenland by Donny, fact is there is already a US presence in Greenland, Denmark is happy to talk about increasing the numbers plus the current US presence is a fraction of what it used to be π«€
Ashdown Forest on a glorious January Sunday morning in the snow with the winter sun low on the horizon, what a view βΊοΈ
Beautiful sunrise from backend of my house over East Grinstead town and woods, happy New Year
Had a much needed 9 mile walk on Friday passing NT Standen on the way, trying to flush the Xmas indulgence out of the system π walking is a healer as is well known, at least by me.
Waiting for a few people around here to ignore that and put their bins out regardless π
My wife of almost 32 years just brought to my attention that All Saints Church of Crawley Down is on the front of the WI News for January 2026 here in W.Sussex, got married there in 1994, lovely π my only yearly WI activity is the annual Christmas shopping trip, this year was Chichester ποΈποΈ
Wonderful reminder of walks on the Northdowns, bit of a job to get there, but worth it, used it for fitness training before going to venture along the West Highland Way some years ago, loved it
Next you are going to walk all 245 miles to Isle of Grain (again)π
Not so brilliant Denmark, they threw it away playing a messy campaign, anyway it's play offs now
Walked past it when doing the Ridgeway in 2019 as my wife was waiting in nearby car park, did not want to miss my lift home π
The Ashdown Forest this November in all its glory, so much to discover for the keen hiker if you don't mind getting a bit muddy on your boots and trouser legs βΊοΈ
I was keen to get on with the Sussex Diamond Way from Midhurst to Heathfield this year, but the wife made me see sense with weather and less daylight etc. almost did it πone for 2026, anyway it's Ashdown Forest for a while, not a bad place to walk in circles Β©οΈ
End of The Ouse Valley Way for me @ Seaford, time clean my boots and put them in the boot bag for 2025, time to think ahead to 2026 for more hiking adventures π₯Ύπ₯Ύ
Andrew, John's promised me it won't be the Thames, honestly π
Almost finished the the Ouse Valley Way before it started, got to Lewes this week, so only just 10 miles to Seaford left, another trail to add to my collection, more to come in 2026 to keep this hiker happy, trying to use my bus pass a bit more and try avoiding nipping up to East Croydon to get home
Finally got going on the Ouse Valley Way in West Sussex, going west to east heading towards Seaford over 3 legs of 42 miles, today's walk was about 16 miles ending in Lindfield π€
After my 2nd Thames adventure some 10 days ago, I felt it was too early to hang up my walking boots for the season, so I repeated the 15 miles from Sheffield Park to home today, will fit in the Ouse Valley Walk here in Sussex the next few weeks, after that it's the planning phase for 2026 hikes.
