Looking Back on Newtype USA 15 Years Later Once upon a time (or, before internet access was as accessible as it is today) anime magazines played a key role in keeping anime fans plugged in to what was going on in the anime industry. Bigger, bolder, and glossier than its competition, Newtype USA was easily among the most popular anime publications in the west before suddenly going out of print in 2008.

Looking Back on Newtype USA 15 Years Later: Anime historian Red Bard traces the history and impact of Newtype USA, which ran from 2002 to 2008. They look at the features the magazine put forth, the circumstances behind its rise and fall, and its impact on North American anime fandom, as a whole.
