I GOT A FUTURE FELLOWSHIP !!!
Yaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy !!!
Wow - thanks so much for highlighting our work !
For our next #OHBM2025 Keynote Interview, we spoke with Dr. Sharna Jamadar ( @sharnajamadar.bsky.social ) about metabolic brain networks, the neuroscience of parenthood, and building more inclusive spaces in science.

Very much forward to this @ohbmofficial.bsky.social
Huge thanks to the team at Monash Psych, Monash Biomedical Imaging, National Imaging Facility, as well as Emma Liang, Chris Moran & Gary Egan
Pleased to share our latest preprint examining the impact of glucodynamic variability on cognition. Hamish Deery shows that it is not the size of the energy budget per se, but the dynamic use of glucose & its coherence into metabolic networks that are important for cognition. #neuroskyence
What does parenthood, depression, and psychedelics do to your brain? Very proud to see Winnie Orchard joining this stellar grp of Aussie neuros @lenaedibrainz.bsky.social @lucacocchineuro.bsky.social ky.social & @drbreaky.bsky.social for a FREE public lecture in June. @ohbmofficial.bsky.social
Congrats on this beautiful work !
π§©New study: "Network Constraints on πͺπ― π·πͺπ·π° Synaptic Alterations in Schizophrenia"
medrxiv.org/content/10.1...
We map a prominent brain-wide pattern of synaptic defects in people with Schizophrenia using PET, then model the molecular, cellular & connectomic features shaping this pattern π§΅1/3π
Beautiful work Adeel & team, congratulations!
𧡠How do psychedelics shape brain activity?
Our new paper presents the largest neuroimaging study of psilocybin to dateβrevealing how context structures psychedelic brain states.

Congrats to Winnie Orchard & @sidchop.bsky.social on their new #ParentalBrain paper, now out in PNAS! They find evidence for the neuroprotective effect of parenthood for women AND men! π©βπΌπ¨βπΌπ§ It's lovely work, and I'm proud to have played a tiny role in it. Read it here π #neuroskyence #neuroimaging
Huge thanks to Hamish Deery, Emma Liang & team for leading this, and Monash Psych, Monash Biomedical Imaging, National Imaging Facility for support. @acnsau.bsky.social @ohbmofficial.bsky.social
Pleased to share our new #MetabolicConnectivity paper! We used #simultaneousPETMR to show that MC has β¬οΈ utility for age & cognition prediction vs #fMRI FC. A bit surprising but it's more evidence of the utility of #fPET & MC as a measure of #BrainConnectivity π§ βοΈ doi.org/10.1093/brai... #neuroskyence

I have a paper in review with an ex-student as 1st author. The last version had a line in acknowledgemts that heβd used AI to assist phrasing. This gave me pause & a 1st for me, but the content is his/ours, & itβs openly acknowledged, so I guess itβs ok Β―\_(γ)_/Β― ? Interested to see where this goes
100% agree
The skills & time needed to collect imaging data is often undervalued eg study design, community engagement, inclusive recruitment & testing practices, listening to participants, data organization etc 1/

lol no clearly not, and they even spelled my name incorrectly. By the time I got past the paywall I could see they just copied the first 2 sentences from my Uni profile. We complained and they removed me from the article apparently
Proud to have been featured as one of the trailblazing Indian-Australian women in STEM in Victoria.
I consider this a real achievement considering I am not Indian

I do too! I use social media to help develop networks, and I also volunteer for a lot of different committees so I can meet people. That way I know a few people. I also find the social interactions exhausting, so I am always sure to stay somewhere on my own for a few hours to calm down afterwards.
Enormous thanks to lead author Hamish Deery on this one, and our whole MetConn team. This was a huge team effort and many years in the making.

Our latest paper 'Reconfiguration of metabolic connectivity in ageing' is now out! We show that the brain's metabolic network declines in efficiency with age, and older adults use more of their energy budget to maintain this inefficient network.
