An optical illusion at that time, and unfortunately the lake is smaller now owing to all the silt at the north end!

A woodland glowing with autumnal shades of gold and orange. The tall trees stand close together, their branches creating a layered canopy. Sunlight filters through, and the forest floor is covered with bracken and fallen leaves, teeming with life. Trees like these support countless species and nurture the soil, quietly sustaining the world around them.
A sleek Blackbird sits among the vibrant red berries of a rowan tree, framed by a bright blue sky. The bird is perfectly still, surrounded by the delicate branches. Trees like this provide food and shelter for birds and other wildlife, especially in winter, sustaining life in every season.
The forest floor is dotted with spiky chestnut shells, some split open to reveal smooth, shiny brown nuts. The mix of green and golden shells rests on soft grass, a reminder of the role trees play in feeding wildlife and spreading life with every seed.
Itβs National Tree Week! Trees are more than beautiful, they're lifelines for wildlife and natural carbon capturers.
